A friend of mine met some Barnet fans on the train home after the Bees had played Halifax at the Wham a couple of weeks ago. They were very impressed by the transformation of the ground and the hospitality available. Said they were looking forward to returning next season. Unfortunately for them, that's not going to happen after today's result. Which also means that one of Altrincham, Bromley or Solihull Moors will be in the Football League next season. |

We got our vouchers easily entering Coley’s but, if there was a mistake it may have been at the Clayton End where the vouchers were not being handed out individually in the turnstiles, but once people were inside the Fan Zone. There were people coming from every direction and no doubt some coming back several times and the poor security guy was swamped and presumably dispensed all his vouchers. Hey, come to think of it, I didn’t get a free Easter egg so I really should have stayed away yesterday out of principle. |

Re: Bits & Bobs
Does anyone know if the back section of the Coppice End has had to be taken out of use for some reason ?
As it seems to be taped off every game nowadays Or is it just now that the away clubs get the seats there isnt the pressure to get as many onto the end ? |
Re: Bits & Bobs
Good morning
We are trying to protect the "temporary extension" on the Coppice by only using it for the teams who will bring over 1k away supporters. It will be in use for the visits of Bradford, Tranmere and Carlisle if these teams do request more than 1k tickets. |
Re: Bits & Bobs
Cheers for the info Mr T
Could you explain what you mean by protect "the temporary extension" So whats the maximum allocation for visiting teams nowadays ? Cheers |
Re: Bits & Bobs
Sir
The "temporary extension" has been up a long time. The experts are saying minimise it's use to prolong it's lifespan. The away allocation is decided by ASFC in conjunction with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) and the police after the away club gives us an indication what demand there is for a fixture. EFL rules state a minimum of 10% of stadium capacity with a minimum of 100 seats under cover. Trust this helps ? |
Re: Bits & Bobs
Cheers Mate Thanks for that i understand now
Ok lets say the away club say we will sell as many as you can give us as i.m sure lets say Bradford will have done The reason i.m asking is we need to decide whether to join in the scramble for tickets at our end or to just bite the bullet and do the hospitality thing in the superb 1968 lounge. Cheers |

Republic U-21 may not be World beaters but I find it more than a bit depressing that a player who seems to be a fixture in their line-up cannot get a game with one of the weakest sides in League Two. He needs to move on, but I for one will be sad to lose him. |
Re: Bits & Bobs
John Coleman to be replaced by Gareth Ainsworth, only won 2 in 14. Not what big spenders Gillingham expect from a manager. The're now on their 5th manager in 18 months. I'd say sack the manager recruitment team!

“ Gareth Ainsworth had talked about wanting to build something special at Shrewsbury over a long period of time, as he did at Wycombe. The constant message was he loved Shrewsbury and the short-term pain was worth it for the long-term gain. BBC Radio Shropshire understands Shrewsbury fought tooth and nail to keep Ainsworth after being approached by Gillingham, to the extent he was offered a two -year extension no matter what league they are in.” https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football...s/cr42y3wlrnko |
Re: Bits & Bobs
[QUOTE=Exile on Spencer St;1281355]I hold no brief for either team but Ainsworth has gone down in my estimation.
It can only be the money on offer....and big money Exile. Plus I assume the promise of a large player budget. Shame these days, but most of football is spoiled by owners with big cheque books. It creates the haves and have nots, just like society in general. I may be going a bit over the top here....just thinking..... |
Re: Bits & Bobs
At least Jack will be pleased.
|
Re: Bits & Bobs
Why would you think this is just down to money ?
Shrewsbury are in free fall. Destined for league two and no money. Gillingham a better bet for Ainsworth. At least Gillingham had the balls to get shut and identify who they wanted and went for him. |

In fact id say its pretty certain they will already be mathematically beyond being able to catch Accrington by the time of the game and were it not for Stanley hitting this latest slump that position would have been achieved already. Believe me if any Carlisle fans thought they were a threat to Stanley staying up they would be down here in their thousands, tickets or no tickets. In fact if they were to win their next couple of games [ dont panic guys there is zero chance of that ] they could still do that creating a problem for Accy that didnt need to be there had they just played fair and given the same allocation to them as Bradford were given. |
Re: Bits & Bobs
[QUOTE=NORTHERNSOUL;1281398]Anyone any idea why Carlisle are only getting just over 1000 tickets for the game in 3 weeks when Bradford had over 2500 at the weekend
I would think it's just operational NSoul. I wouldn't read anything into it. Would you expect Carlisle to sell 2500? With their present League position?...... |
Re: Bits & Bobs
[QUOTE=Crown Grounder;1281440]
Quote:
Anybody can see from past allocations that the maximum is somewhere around the 2700 that Bradford has last week yet Carlisle are given not much more than a third of that with no explanation given as to why whatsoever and without any hint of an explanation from Stanley. To be honest i expected better than this from Stanley, Andy Holt and the management team at the Wham. [ Carlisle are just saying it was a decision made at the Accrington end and theres nothing they can do about it ] And to answer your question yes the 2700 would have sold easily [ unless you fancy trekking to Cheltenham for a dead rubber game ] it will be a lot of fans last chance to see their club away in the football league ] and for instance the 1750 that Morecambe gave [ the maximum they can offer ] for the game next week sold out on the first day of sale not going beyond the top priority level [Season ticket holders] and i would have thought the not letting the opposition fill the ground argument is much more relevant to them than to Accy dont forget this is a club who last season took over 4k to two away games [at Bolton and at Wigan] and over 3k to two more matches. But to look on the bright side to see that Stanley are now doing so well financially that they can afford to turn down the 50k that the missing 1700 would have put into the coffers can only be good news. |
Re: Bits & Bobs
Don’t let it get to you, Northernsoul, the extent to which the town’ inhabitants (and Council) support Stanley, and after last Tuesday’s performance, with 1,000 tickets the Cumbrians may well outnumber home fans.
|
Re: Bits & Bobs
By "operational reasons" Northern Soul I mean't comments we've seen earlier about selling tickets in the seated area for away fans on the far side BEFORE selling any of the standing area on the Coppice Terrace in the "Temporary Stand" (Club's Words). Are you saying that the 1000 tickets already allocated to Carlisle, have been sold? If so maybe more will be made available......that seems to be the normal process for clubs with large away followings. From a personal perspective I wouldn't allocate more and give Carlisle equal fan support advantage.....but that costs the club money and I understand why the Owner would want to maximise revenue......I'm not quite sure which club you actually support....you seem to be wearing a Carlisle Scarf at the moment....and if that's the case I doubt you would want Stanley Fans telling Carlisle United what it should be doing on match days? Maybe I'm wrong......no offence mean't....just my thoughts...

And thanks for the reply Ive never made any secret on here of the fact that i support CUFC and have done for well over 50 years but i moved to Accy in 2012 and started watching the odd game and then got caught up in the hulabaloo of the AH takeover and what came after with Billy Kee and against all the odds getting Promoted and over the last few years its surprising how little we.ve played each other which has been good for me and i.ve praying for you to get the points and get away from the **** end of the table the situation now is a bloody nightmare for me and i.d love it Stanley could win a game and beat Tranmere then if we did pull off the miracle it wouldnt be at Accys expense. But yes i imagine they have as the only update weve had is that theyd sold over 800 by Thursday close but we.ve heard nothing since which is very strange but at the time they went on sale this is what our ticketing site said Accrington Stanley v Carlisle United, Monday 21 April, 3pm kick-off. "We have been allocated 548 seated tickets and 500 terracing tickets for this game. No more tickets will be available." You are wrong about me not supporting selling all possible tickets to the away club and last season when we didnt sell 1700 away tickets to Derby when with a little work and a bit of extra stewarding/policing i wasnt the only one who criticised them for not doing just that and lets face it Accy have done so plenty of times in the past and i thought you might give us the full allocation and then challenge all the Accy stay aways to buy the rest and create a new record attendance. But i think Accy [ OR Lancs Plod ] are creating a rod for their own back here because if we were to win our next two games do you really think many more wouldnt travel down knowing there would be 1700 empty seats [which would make Accy look very silly] so to speak and if they did Plod would then have to make a decision let them in or attempt to manage 1700 fans in the town centre on a Bank Holiday Monday afternoon after someone had created a problem thats totally unnecessary. All i want is somebody to come out and say whos decision it was and what it was based on. Ideal scenario for me would be Accy to get the points and we go into miracle mode and we sent our bogey team Harrogate back where they belong. |
Re: Bits & Bobs

All i want is somebody to come out and say whos decision it was and what it was based on. Perhaps contact Mr T by direct message. But it sounds like you won't be happy whatever he tells you? If the worse happens att least with Carlisle's fan-base it sounds like they are more likely to get back into the football league, whereas Stanley would really struggle with our low support..... |

I actually did just that last week but up to now had no response which i find a bit strange as he always has done in the past. I dont know why you think i wouldnt be happy whatever the answer because quite the opposite would be true it doesnt affect me as i have a ticket already and as i have a purchase history with Accy there would be nothing to stop me buying and sitting in my usual seat in the stand. And i echo what youre saying about getting back if the worst happens my view is if youre gonna get relegated to the NL this would be a good season to do it as theres no really big cash rich ex league clubs down there next season and as far as i.m concerned so long as our absent American owners learn their lessons appoint a decent manager who actually knows what hes doing and dump the stats crap and keep the cash flowing we.d probably be odds on to get straight back up but a lots gonna depend on whats going to happen to the players on 5 grand a week ? will they want to stay ? Are there relegation release clauses/wage reductions ? or should we just try and get rid of the lot and start again. But the Yanks have a lot of questions to answer and right now all we are hearing is the sound of silence. But i get what youre saying about that being less likely in Accys case and i would agree that it will be a little more difficult for them to get back up which is why its vital that you get the points you need to stay up because i think what JD has been building will pay off long term. I think somebody at the Wham needs to come out this week and rally the fans to get behind the team especially them who were so keen to snap up the Liverpool tickets in January but who havnt been seen since. |

As a primary school child in Accy until 1963 I knew something of Bob Lord’s duplicitous behaviour but that wasn’t the only reason he was a hated figure. We also had to endure school meals for which Lord supplied the meat, actually mainly gristle. The joke was that we were (trying) to eat the Burnley players who got too old to make his team. But, notwithstanding Lord’s part in Stanley’s downfall, the true problem was, as it is today, the total lack of response from the town to the future of the club. P.S. all the more reason to get a season ticket while we can! |
