Sad news. I remember him joining the Stanley fans on the terrace at Northwich (or was it Winsford?) some years back and asking after Paul Beck.

Is Dion,s contract up in the summer as he signed a 2 year deal when he arrived in 2019 can't remember if he has signed a new deal or not hope he has. Think there is an option for a further year built in not quite sure how these work exactly.

Nothing !
Yates has championship games on his cv already and is hardly a secret to most scouts.
Hes under contract until 2023 and the club has a twelve months option beyond that.
Means the price to prise him away will be more than Dion's.
Understand Dion's contract expires this summer but the club has a twelve months option which they will certainly exercise.

andyd 25-03-2021 12:41

Re: Bits & Bobs

He,s under scrutiny to me because of the goals he,s scored this season less currently than Dion in the championship he was hardly prolific 2 in 47 it all comes down to what clubs are prepared to pay for any particular player Dion might not even be on any ones radar but being close to or could end up leading scorer his value will as a striker that I presume will soar.

Twenty Eight 25-03-2021 15:13

Re: Bits & Bobs

Dion's price will actually drop the nearer his contract heads towards the end.
That's why it is alleged there's big offers for Yates because of the length of his contract.

I don't believe those figures by the way.

The club has the option mate, not Dion.
However as happened with Clark if you go into that final year the player can start talking to other suitors from January onwards and every month towards expiry the value drops.
Nothing to stop Accy offering him a new contract any time.
Whether accepted or not is another matter.

A player and his agent can talk to possible siutors if the parent club gives permission which must happen as you get particularly at big clubs transfers announced weeks before they happen, then of course there is also the murky world of " tapping up" that,s illegal under fa rules but you would be naive to think it doesn't go on. Stanley could offer a new deal especially on current form but would as always be tied by lowish at this level budget, Dion,s form as a striker could dip meaning lot less goals so interest wains difficult choices as I said your worth what people are prepared to pay and the gambling managers and clubs make thier move with Stanley,s permission off course when especially a striker the iron,s hot and if a big if the money was right for player and club he goes that's life.

Andy,

Dion's contract expires I believe June 21.
The club will exercise its option extending that to June 22.
Dion does not need the club's permission to speak to anyone from January 22 onwards and may do a pre contract deal effective June 22.
If clubs want to speak before Jan 22 then of course has to be through the club.

tapping up players whilst still under contract has gone on from the early days of football. it always will and will never end. size and money always win in the end and the bigger and stronger eat up those lower down the food chain. stanley being very low in the food chain need to be quite wary just to survive and use everything and anything just to do so.

Its a tricky one for us.
Just got to decide what you want for an asset and stick to it.
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
I remember when Clark was getting towards the end of his contract we decided to put him on the transfer list in January and circulated the 72.
Plenty of interest but in the end when told the fee it was no thanks we'll wait until the end of the season and get him for nothing.

From the BBC:

Baraclough added that Dion Charles will make his senior debut against the Americans at Windsor Park. The Accrington Stanley striker, who has scored 17 goals this season, was left out of the matchday squad to face Italy.

"Dion will play some part in it and it is important that we get to have a look at him. He has been chosen for a reason," said Baraclough.

So you dont think theres the possibility we will want too much for Dion ?
I think theres every chance we will.
As the value drops the personal terms for the player increase. Dion has time on his side but has to add another 15 plus next season.

We're using it as an u23's tournament; as are Stockport.

It could ask be useful to get "game time" into the lads who should be ( all being well) returning from injury

its worse as he should never have got an appointment like that in the first place. or as have happened in the past was he set up in an attempt to finally get rid of him. a possible game that would have been hard for anyone to control.

Wow, MH!
I’m sure you know of what you write but if that’s actually how the Refereeing Authorities operate it’s beyond belief.
From what I’ve seen (Wimbledon!) and read about Mr. Kettle, he’s not been fit for league football for some time.
But have the Ref authorities knowingly let him go on ruining teams’ chances because they don’t have the cojones to demote him?

the saying of giving someone enough rope to hang themselves might have not been the case with kettle but has certainly happened over the years in whats now the pyramid non league. pushing people up the slope comes hand in hand with pushing them quickly down it. there are always games at every level that anyone with the basic knowledge of the laws of the game can control. there are others where if you could combine the attributes of collina and jack taylor you,d be on a hiding to nothing. these type of games are never allocated to those they are pushing up i can tell you. do know of a couple of appointments in these type of games where a referee in my opinion was set up and one of the reasons they were demoted the next season.

Ben Kay joins the groundsmen staff from Chorley fc to assist Buzzer with the pitch and new training facilities, I think the acquisition of a training facility and another top groundsman in Ben are one of the most important steps as a club we have made, it will hopefully prevent the Wham pitch from being trained on and keep it like a bowling green to suit Stanley's style. This season as well as all the injuries the Wham pitch as cut up badly and it affects our home games no reflection on Buzzer who does a sterling job but the amount of games this season played in some awful conditions plus training on it has spoilt it hopefully a thing of the past.

hope they allow the two teams involved to decide the KO time and not everyone having to start at one time. plenty will have to change travelling and overnight stays if an earlier say 12.00 one is decided by the league.

It's been slowly but surely destroying itself since 1992 and the introduction of the premier league and the growing control TV and money brought with it, unfortunately it's going to happen sooner or later not sure if it will destroy the likes of Stanley, might do the rest of football some good long term.

Bit ironic that the Premier league are up in arms about these latest super league plans didn't think twice when they broke away in 92, just shows what these clubs think of their stadium fans though when they think that a global TV audience will be better for the coffers, any that sign should be deducted points and relegated before they leave.

The absolute nerve of these so called big six they sign up to play for enormous amounts of money thus able to pay even more extortionate players wages and say they will still partake in the Premiership, kick em out bar all their players from any other competition and let's get football here back to a fan supported less motivated by greed and who can pay the most for vastly overrated players, those six clubs real supporters should be disgusted.

hope these 6 clubs from england and the 6 others all lay 3g pitches to make the new competition totally plastic.

when have big well supported clubs ever been bothered about that. its the armchair brigade thats top of their lists. one day fans will smell the coffee and realize they,ll get more out of a visit to the wham and similar places than they,ll ever get from the top 6. years ago i knew of a lad who became a walsall fan after trying all the midlands premier league clubs. was totally shocked that players actually spoke to him and not blanked him with bits of plastic stuck in their ears.

Perhaps Sheridan had foreknowledge of this and fancies his chance in the new super league.

Rumours saying Jose refused to take players training this morning in response to the club signing up for the ESL if true well done Jose.

Meeting,s at la Liga and the remaining 14 clubs in the Premiership let's hope they have the balls to kick the clubs out of the respective league's, they deserve nothing less deal with the repercussions of finance later as they obviously want an even bigger slice of the pie, better to end it now than let it fester.

think at the end of the day with so much opposition throught this country they,ll drop the euro league idea. well they,ll drop it now but for sure it will rear its head again in the future. plenty of time to grease palms and finance to buy others off.

Even if they drop the idea they should be brought to book perfect opportunity for the balance of power to be addressed and any future deals of money to be fairly distributed in the pyramid, nothing wrong with new ideas as long as it's not driven by greed and an unbalanced voting mechanism.

Leam Richardson has officially been appointed as Wigan's manager, well deserved too - so glad he's sticking with them & has finally struck out on his own

hope he does really well for them. thought he was one that was destined to be a permanent assistant to someone else in the game.

Andy !..

If one truth has come to light via the Super League fiasco it is that the owners of the ‘ BIG’ clubs don’t give two hoots about anyone but themselves and their future garnering of vast fortunes via Football !.
This opinion is based on their feeble attempts to apologize to anyone they just might have offended by their avaricious and underhand behaviour .
It only goes to confirm what has been said for years on our Forum regarding
‘ Them and us ! ‘

THE MORE I SEE OF THESE MEN, THE MORE I LIKE DOGS !.

Don’t wish to upset the VG of F nor the fans of The Gas, but one point from Wigan’s remaining three games will relegate Mr. Barton!

funny how feelings about certain clubs go up and down depending on their manager. wigan have gone up a few notches whilst bristol rovers have reached rock bottom. never liked any team where fatty evans or paul lambert have been involved in.

It's not his fault though, it was who was in charge before him (at least that's what he says :D)
