In the earlier census the lived at 16 Dowry St, Acc he was born in Dodsworth Yorkshire. in the 1901 census they are at 25 Whalley Rd..

That shop in Black Abbey St was originally Bob Holts, his nephew Robert Saul took over from him, R. Saul lived in Blackpool and travelled from there every day, he was one of the first to stack em...

Bought my first set of 4 wheels off William Birtles, after a bullet wound in my leg prevented me riding motor bikes, he sold me an Austin Tilly GXB 777, and a spare engine for 40 quid.

There was also another chap who sold ice cream from a horse & cart in that area called Clemson.
I remember he used to stop at the bottom of Major St, in the 1930's

Miss Harker had a dancing school in the old Bay Horse Buildings in Church St, that building collapsed one wednesday afternoon.
