the question was always asked by mother or grandmother....never a teacher.
I think they assumed that this question had been asked prior to you leaving the house.

Yes we were always asked at the door...have you been to the toilet, have you got clean underwear on, have you got a clean hankie???

I am just glad not to having to Lauder all those hankies.....sounds like you could keep a Chinese laundry in businesses:).

That is no good for Lancastrians...they wipe their noses on their sleeve:D.
I don't know anyone who uses real hankies these days.

I don't mind clapping for the right reason.....to show appreciation or approval.
It must be great to have done a performance and get a response from the crowd.....after all that is what you are...
