Further update on this story.
The lad had a blow up boat and struck it with the shovel(seeing as spade is unacceptable) this cut the inflatable causing it to deflate rapidly.
Aaah, so sad, never...

Well it is reported that he set off in a 'makeshift boat ' with a spade as a paddle...and he did not get very far.

Taddy a 'whiny' is someone who never lets up on the moaning in a sort of pleading way the kids have when they try to tug at your wallet strings....they want something and whine until they get it....
