Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

I wouldn't worry about it until next year, Simon.

If (heaven forbid) that Cllr Britcliffe not only loses his County Council seat and his Leader of the Council position, I'm sure he has a...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

Andrew, you have never once replied to anyone without giving a sit-on-the-fence answer or just completely dodging the question by bringing something else up. It has nothing to do with Conservatives...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

That depends on two things:

1) Whether he's been prepped on how to respond by the local party.

2) If there's a chapter on it in one of those Political Studies textbooks.

I shouldn't...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

I'm afraid not, Eric. It seems that my upfront approach has not gone down well at Castle Britcliffe.

Mind you, a letter from the market traders is more likely to cause a stink today, particularly...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

Just a tad.

It would be nice to occasionally be given the chance to discuss and debate things from this side of the fence but it's a bit on the awkward side with no council meeting between July...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

The 'listen' bit is not an optional extra where Cllr Britcliffe is concerned, it's his show.

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

Yes and no.

The Rishton one is broadly similar to the Oswaldtwistle one but there were certain slight variances which I was quite keen on and they will be included in future at our meetings. The...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

I'm at the back of a queue waiting for the Leader of the Council to respond to him.

Some of the market traders aren't best pleased at the lack of reply to their correspondence either.

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

It's a conspiracy!

When the Mayor turned up I suppose the Jammie Dodgers disappeared too?

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

In all seriousness, it actually bore fruit in a much more positive way than you're thinking.

Beyond some quizzicals looks from the Leader, other Area Councils do things quite differently from...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

I didn't manage to get any myself!

Mind you, it was very nice of Cllr Britcliffe to come and stand in the pouring rain to wave the Rishton team and Cllr Pritchard off, he didn't look particularly...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

Cllr Britcliffe usually has so much good news to tell us in the papers, the council chamber and at opening ceremonies yet is strangely reticent to speak so positively about his projects online.

I...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

It was great that you could make it and the market traders were left in no doubt yesterday as to which party is championing their cause.

After being told that their MP won't form a good working...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

If you're reading this Peter, the invitation's still open.

Marlene, feel free to chip in as well and show me up for the disgrace I am. You barely singed my boots this morning in front of all...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

Not to worry, Margaret. The answers to questions on notice will probably run along these tried and tested lines:

1) Blame was the previous administration

2) 13 years of Labour rule have...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

Really? Does he own any property on that street? I only ask because maybe he's trying to avoid the same 'mistake' that Graham made when Hodder Street was resurfaced in an apparently self-serving...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

I suppose in many ways I was trying to reassure someone who may in reality have a delicate ego that a new viewpoint would be welcome. Given the lack of response so far, I feel like a bit of a bully....

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

The major kick off will probably be tomorrow morning at the Cabinet meeting. Apparently, I'm likely to get a roasting for my despicable comments. I am just a new boy after all, as was pointed out in...

Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

I mustn't.

Already this week I've had more column inches in the Lancashire Telegraph than he has.

If I push it any further I'll be wearing a flak jacket up at Scaitcliffe House tomorrow.

The phonecall I got this morning implied that mighty wroth is the Leader of the Council regarding...

An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

It has come to my attention today that Cllrs Britcliffe and Haworth are rather upset at my posts on Accrington Web, with particular reference to those within the past 24 hours. I would therefore...
