Re: multi-media digital display

I thought it was probably the best place for it. Presumably the angle would be too tight under the TV gantry for some in the far side of the Clayton End?

I spent several hours in the optician and...

Re: multi-media digital display

Erm, my understanding was we'd get a large screen and it would cost £40K. Isn't the outcome a large screen that cost £40K?

Re: multi-media digital display

I think the point Dav is making ("rip off") is not that it's good or useful, but that we've been over charged.
The solution to this pointless debate is to be pointed in the direction of some "facts"...

Re: multi-media digital display

A tight ship eh? Maybe rip out all the seats and flog em in a car boot sale? Sell off the roof for scrap?

Get behind the screen!

Re: multi-media digital display

Good to see that once actually viewed the various rumblings about the giant telly have stopped. Chalk that up as a success then.

Yes, I believe there is a rule about not showing the time after 90...

Re: multi-media digital display

I for one can't wait to see it. I'm actually thinking of getting there 30 minutes early and just gawping at it until I get a stiff neck. Watch as mug shots of our heroes light up the grim Accrington...

Re: multi-media digital display

Given that a 77 inch telly for your lounge might set you back £18k then it's not that much of a surprise is it?

Re: multi-media digital display

It looks smashing to me. Large enough without dominating things. I look forward to watching some seany moments of magic on it.

Given that most fans claim to have laser eyesight by virtue of them...

Re: multi-media digital display

How about showing highlights from classic old games? or titbits of info during the match ... "did you know, that was McConville's 26th goal of the season"..... or just quirky stuff like the videos...

Re: multi-media digital display

Actually Baldy, you are right and my comment was too harsh. I should have said that I hope it is used for a mix of things. Generating revenue as well is a good thing.

Re: multi-media digital display

I'm excited by it. Providing there's some imagination in how it's used.
If it's just going to show sh@te adverts for Cafe Brilliante and a big clock then my opinion will soon change.

Re: multi-media digital display

So, it's only going to cost £30K and there's only another £2K to raise and we'll be able to watch Sean's wonder goals "up in lights".
Marvellous.

Re: multi-media digital display

Maybe worth looking at the Dingles average attendance over time. It ranges from 3,200 in 1996 to 30,000.
I don't know what loyalty schemes they had in place, but there was one factor which might...

Re: multi-media digital display

A few years ago I bought a big screen for the house. Community spirit was lost immediately as Er Indoors insisted it went straight back to the shop.

So I'd welcome a big screen. Bigger the better....
