Now I get it! "Vest" as in UK-speak. Forgive me; I've been away for a while;) Come to think of it, I used to wear the ones made out of string.

Ok ... why do some bras fasten at the front, and some at the back? And why isn't there some standardiation? And why aren't there buttons on bras?
