Yeah you got it - change the batteries
I'd already done that and it didn't work.
2nd thing - Take the batteries out, point remote at TV and press power button for 2 mins

its a static build up on the remote, handy to know for the future, thing is if I had taken this to the shop for repair what would they have charged me?? £50 at a guess .
