Certainly one of the better articles about Stanley, and really well-researched. (Except Rishden, as you mention Gayle)

You're quite right, of course. But it's such a well-established and much-repeated error that if we attempted to correct it on every occasion that we saw it we'd never get anything else done !

Good article but I have always believed Accrington were one of the founder members of the league, and this is also noted in the football museum in Preston!!! Ok before anyone points out my school girl error, I know it was accrington FC that were founder members... and stanley are a different team. But I must admit I do see it as one club with a history!! Call it the romantic in me
