Computer been knocked over

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but, my desktop computer has been knocked from its shelf, height of about 1ft or so, and following the fall it went to the blue screen, message on it stated 'configuring setup', it was switched off after seeming 'stuck' on this screen.

Now it isn't registering the keyboard or mouse.

I have thought to take it apart and remove all components, in case something has been knocked loose?

But I'm no expert. Can anybody help?

I'll send it off for repair if necessary just thought it may be worth asking here.

If you feel confident doing it, re-seating everything is a good start. Be aware though, computer components are static sensitive, you should really ground yourself first.

Is it the windows blue screen or Bios blue screen.

Yes I do! I wish I was one, never have much luck with technology at all!

That wouldn`t work, you need grounding not insulating.

No it isn't working, still got the blue screen of death

the message is no longer there though, It's a blank screen with a HDML message noting 'No Signal', now.

About 30 seconds ago, after I undid the tower and made sure things were attached properly, it looked as if it was okay.

I had a message prompting a reboot, which I have done, and then back to this screen!

('Startup repair is checking your computer for problems. If problems are fund startup repair will fix them automatically. Start your computer to repair')

Do you see anything at all when first switching on? any manufacturers logo`s?
Why type of keyboard, wireless or wired? If wired is it USB?
Which things did you check were attached? Did you check the RAM and Video Card?

Depends if it finds any problems, the jolt could have damaged the hard drive, leave it to do it`s thing and hopefully it will be OK.

Actually yes that's true, I've made that mistake too misjudging how daft people are!
I checked the vid card, and yes It's a USB keyboard.

It looks to have sorted as I've been typing!It's working now!

It was my dog that caused this issue... It was knocked over when she, for some unknown reason, decided to suddenly dart under the desk. She's never been interested in the desk before, I have no idea why she did this and then I heard this crash...

I was about to make her into a rather nice rug

I'm better than I used to be, just because I got fed up of calling up my 'techy' peers and asking for help with things which they obviously found very simple.

I'm still pretty useless though as this thread demonstrates!

I admire people (like gpick!) who have the patience to get very good with computers, probably because I find the whole subject of I.T incredibly boring! But each to their own, I wish I didn't-it must be very useful to be good at it!
