Well I’ve just received my new grey-wheeled bin at my front door. I had a bit of a job on to get it through to my back yard i.e. door casings, furniture, wallpaper etc. I do hope they don’t expect me to wheel it through my home to put it back at the front door each collection date, when its stinking, covered in cat pee and slugs etc.

just had a do with half a dozen kids, it now is fun to take the lids off wheelie bins & career down the back ally on the thing , leaving the actual bin on its side with the rubbish ready for the cats, rats, & whatever, wheelie bins, DONT ASK//

Dont worry Mez - it'll lose its appeal after they end up with a faceful of dog **** from coming off the lid!

My recently recieved wheely bin has a sticker with my address and a barcode on it. Can I tear this off, otherwise the local scrotes will know I`m not in if the bin is still in the back in the middle of the afternoon, and break in my house!

in deepest Bavaria they have just started with a new concept that may catch on all over Europe.Your bin receives a bar code or a chip where all your data is registered. When tipping this into the truck the weight is memeorised on a computer and you only then have to pay fr the weight.Get this, all wheelie bins have lockable lids to prevent other people putting their rubbish in yours. This way you should only have to pay for the weight of rubbish that is collected.People who seperate their rubbish correctly will then have less rates to pay at the end of the year

Re: Wheelie bins, recycling..

Just had first weekend with wheelie bin. Discovered I had bin, blue bag, but no white bag and no blue box. Rang up, asked for white bag and blue box. Got blue bag and white bag.

Stand in kitchen mesmerized. What goes where? What do I do with bottles if I have no blue box? Will I be imprisoned, tortured, maimed, if I put cans in my bin?

Now back in London. Kitchen in Ossy full of bottles. Backyard full of cans (in a bag because I've no blue ........). Have managed to get newspapers in white bag.

Can we go back to black bags please?

Re: Wheelie bins, recycling..

A new system in ossy taken from the Germans and with help and advice of expats the world over and Accy, ( big drum roll, trumpets etc..)

1 Instead of a bar code for the Bin all people putting any thing in the Bin will require a bar code to placed on the forehead of every person who will use the bin. This will dissuade the casual user therefore allowing more space in the Bin for rubbish.
2 All persons in your family who will require the bar code can go down to the council offices, ODOR,Office of Department of Rubbish who will affix the aformentioned Bar code. This is a free service given by your council.
3 A list of all the people who will use your Bin will be kept at the office by an officer of the office of department of rubbish, this officer will track your rubbish. Obviously this is a new position in ODOR and will have to be paid for from a small increase in Council Tax.
4 White bags will be provided for paper products ( white = paper )
5 Red bags will be provided for glass products (red = glass+cut )
6 Blue bags will be provided for can and tins ( blue= metal)
7 Brown bags will be provided for dog excrement ( brown= s* you get the idea)
8 All these bags will be provided by the council if you call on a wed between 7am and 7 05am or between 11 01am 11 02 am obviously this will have to be paid for by a small increase in council tax.
9 To ensure you use your bags and bins for the right products we are going to create a new position checker of bins bags enviormental rubbish or (COBBER) This poition will be paid for by a small increase in council tax.
And finally remember HBC is working for you.

Re: Wheelie bins, recycling..

For your convenience the forehead barcode department of the council has been closed. Your forehead can now be barcoded at the post office, a number of local newsagents and Boozebuster stores>
