Re: Chimney on rhyddings street

They should leak a story to the Tinker & Didicoys' Daily News newspaper.

Saying there's rumoured to be a bit of lead in the foundations.

Reckon thats a fair price, when you consider it will have to be scaffolded to the top, taken down by hand, skip hire, cost of removal, and tipping charges,
then the wages, for those doing the work, it will take longer than a week, because of the state its in, and the danger of collapse as the bands are removed.
I'll bet insurance charges are in the region of 10,000, if not more.

I would imagine that he, like a lot of other people, just want to see this chimney made safe, but can't see why the council tax payer should foot the bill, when these buildings are acquired the people are quite aware of there responsibilities they have for maintaining these premises, yet it seems HBC are having to pick up the tab, I tell you what if this had appeared 6 months ago Ken Moss would have been doing somersaults on here demanding Britcliffe's head on a plate, not much coming from that department now is there

Re: Chimney on rhyddings street

The council can claim the cost back from the owner
....but it looks like the company haven't the money to pay.

In July the Inland Revenue applied for the company to be 'wound up'

Re: Chimney on rhyddings street

I am going to guess they will put a charge on the land like mentioned in the planning thread about the house off New Lane that has had the extension and wall taken down by HBC

Re: Chimney on rhyddings street

Perhaps we could get community artist Knitty Nora back.

To crochet some sort of a cosey, to help support it.

Second thoughts, scrub that.

Thirty grand to knock it down will be cheaper.

In insolvency, the liquidators are bound by 'a pecking order' when paying creditors. I think that Inland Revenue are likely to be higher up than HBC.
