Local doorstep deliveries?

Was doorstepped a few weeks ago by a young man wanting to know if I wanted my milk delivered to the door (no charge for delivery) and 10p cheaper than Asda. He asked me to support a local business so I agreed.

Although they have got the order wrong, they've always compensated free of charge. I've found it so convenient and love the idea of supporting a local business.

Got me wondering what else is local that I can use? Would really like a window cleaner and bread deliveries would be amazing - we go through one loaf a day!

What local services assist you?

Re: Local doorstep deliveries?

This post has reminded me when i was young, my Mum's milkman used to deliver not only milk, but potatoes, bread, cream, butter, eggs, anything that was from the farm, bread was farm made, try suggesting something on these lines to them.

Re: Local doorstep deliveries?

Ive recently started having my milk delivered, i much prefer to support the local businesses and it saves buying it from asda, given the ammount that I go through

Plus the milkman also accepts healthy start . milk vouchers which is a bonus

Re: Local doorstep deliveries?

I would love to have fresh milk deliveries. I have to use UHT milk because I have fortnightly grocery deliveries. Where I live, uphill and on the edge of an estate, it took me 2 years to find a window cleaner willing to carry a ladder this far.

I bake my own bread and buy eggs from the alottment next door.
I am trying to persuade my egg man to sell me veggies too, but have had no luck with that yet. His alottment is mainly poultry and he only grows a minimum of veg to appease the council, and says that his family use all of it.

There are a couple of milk deliveries on my street Margaret and I am close to you. I don't see him often as I leave for work a bit too early for him, if I do I will try and get you a phone number for him.

Re: Local doorstep deliveries?

we used to have an old van that came round here many years ago ... still can get milk delivered ..which he delivers at the ungodly hour of 3.45am .. i had to stop it though .. someone kept nicking it off my doorstop .... Think they stopped the delivery van because everyone was out at work and so no one in when they called round .. plus the supermarkets got everyones business .. Window cleaner i have comes from burnley .. after our old one either gave up or he stopped calling .. it took ages to find one .. got him cos he cleaned the pub windows at that time and i asked him if he'd do mine .. now he does everyones on the avenue and a few more besides ..

Re: Local doorstep deliveries?

When I was young ( yes it's true I was once ) I used to have a part time job on a door to door bread delivery van called Mike's Pantry. Although it was primarily Rossendale based I have vague memories of it going round the estate at Clayton, Warwick drive etc
