They made mining equipment. My Dad used to call it Fenners - maybe that was an earlier name. I think they had a works in Church too.

It was a Masseys pub originally, then it became a Bass pub, after Masseys were taken over. A big Claret fans pub too, as I recall, as the Burnley bus stop was just across the road.

If I remember , you used to have an idea what brewery ran a pub by the paint job outside , Lion usually green , Thwaites a dark red , Duttons a darkish blue I think and Masseys a black and cream job

one pub allways stuck me as a bit odd , think its the Hargreaves (across from the police station , a big huge place but it was allways empty ,never more than 5 or 5 customers maybe at the time I used it ,it had a poor landlord, or the location put 'regular' folks off :confused:
