At least your competition is another Brit so any lack of American knowledge will hopefully be evened out for you. Also, the scouting report for them is that they only rate 53% in the quizzes so hopefully another weakeness that will go your way.

I joined the knockout quiz after listening to you both saying you do it. Anyway got thro the first round - thing is cant enter till i get home - seeing as im at my sisters and being the nice auntie i am and kicked my nephew off his computer!!!! lol Oh and my points was 1157 - i got 13/20 right. So there is hope for you yet rindy!! lol Tournament 150 is mine.

I'm blaming the shock of there being twenty questions, as opposed to fifteen in GT.

I think I wandered off to make coffee after answering fifteen, so my time must have been dire.

That's my excuse anyway, and I'm sticking to it.:D

I remember that clearly. Then you were off to vacation putting you back. I guess that had to be one of the many reasons Jen won that first go round!:p

I finally got back into the top 50 in the Global Challenge. I had been 42nd when I left for my Lancashire trip. When I started playing again I had dropped down to 77th. So, at least I got that going for me!;)

I upgraded a couple of months ago.

Main reason was that when you've played three hundred quizes, you can't play anymore.

I must say it is worth the nineteen quid. No pop ups, and you get all the benefits of seeing your results. Plus you get to play in gold member quizes too.

So LYY, what was your finishing position?

In Global Trivia there is a county league.

Go to Global Trivia, click on My Stats, at the top of the page. Scroll down to My Neighbourhood/Local Scoreboard and it'll show you Lancashire table results.:)

I played 352 games, but I recently got a bit fed up with it. Progress through the leagues was so slow. I know that's the point of the game (to make it harder the further you go), but I only played a few days over the last couple of weeks.

Playing just in the Global Trivia is fairly easy with my schedule: ~8 a.m., then at 1 p.m., and finally at 9 p.m. Evene with all that, I believe I played less than 400 games that the top folks play. Mostly due to not playing the bonus Impssible as well as they 5 day trip to England.
I did beg my bruv Rindy to let me play over there but he properly did not enable me:p and helped me break the addiction (until I got back home!).

Interesting point. I only came in like 13th place on that team I'm on. Still not sure why they recruited me as I'm not a big fan of classical music and really don't know what "mensa" is all about. Always thought it was a bunch of Harvard/Oxford snobby folks!

As most of you know, the new Global Challenge starts on Wednesday. It helps to get in at the earlies stage as you then feel part of the challenge to stay in the top 300, 200, 100, 50, all of which are quite admirable milestones (IMO).

Just remember to play the Brain Twist which gives hefty bonus points as does the Impossible, if you're man enough to play it. I'll be coming back over to the Lancashire locality once the new challenge begins. These Americans are just so so . . . well you know!:p

I never look at anyone else's score before playing, neither GT or Mel's AW quiz.

Too much pressure if you see a load of 10's, and then you struggle with a question, as I did yesterday with a toxic shock and sanitary towel question!:D

Yeah, those first few games in Global Challenge do blow by! One method I use to get a higher ranking: When I'm close to the end on one level, I play the Category with the highest number of "lower level" opponents. This is usually General. That will give you higher ranking points and you also won't have to get ranked in that Category against the better folks in the next level.

I also hold off playing Brain Twist or Impossible for the same reason. That way, I get advanced to the next level with my best categories yet to play. Therefore standing a better chance against these higher ranked guys.

My gosh that sounds wicked confusing eh? Sorry about that! Just trying to get my Lancashire Mates any "tips of the trade" that I use.

Good advice, unfortunately I don't have any 'best catagories'. I can do well, then the next time I play a catagory it's pants.

I really wish there was a proper Arts quiz, or if Literature was actually about literature, and not comic books.

I had to play Global Trivia before 10am this morning, and did quite well to say I was still half asleep. I thought I'd look at today's Brain Twist, because I need those extra points. Somehow yesterday I passed that sudoku quiz, and got the bonus points. Today's was fairly easy, words without vowels. You need to get over fifty percent for the points, so at 13/25 I submitted the quiz.

'You have failed'.

Arggghhh!!!

Note to self, never play Brain Twist until coffee has kicked in...and double check all spellings!:D
