Global trivia quiz.
 

There is a new global trivia quiz strarting tomorrow, Sunday first of October.

You can access it through Mel's Accy quiz by clicking on the homepage link. You may have to re-register a name. I'm 'rindyroo' in that quiz.

You can play five catogries every eight hours, as well as daily in the regional game against players in your county.

Its free, but after you've moved up the first three divisions they do take away some of the privileges, like being unable to see your rating, unless you pay to join, but I've found a sneaky way of getting round that.;)

I'm totally hooked. If anyone else wants to play, I'll see you in there.:)

The first three divisions you are in you can access all the rating systems and see your results from the quizes you took part in.

When you reach the forth division (Nimble Minds?) they take away that access unless you pay to join.

You can get round this and see your results if you click on 'my statistics', then local scoreboard. You can then see your points and position from the last games you played.

Please don't play Geography though for the next 3 hours 28 minutes...as I'm top of the worldwide board at present.:D

That's a great idea Rindy. I'm playing but I'm stuck playing over here against other Virginians. Have checked in on you guys and have noted Accyweb being represented nicely.

So right about some of these scores and times. I mean how the heck can anyone answer 15 questions in less than 25 seconds? Quite humbling!

It is quite addictive though, and is now better you can only play three times a day instead of four.

Suprisingly I've won the regional game three times this week. Sadly you only get 30 points for playing, win or lose, the gits.:mad:

Hey Rindy, just noticed you hadn't played over at the Global Challenge. Was worried about ya. I really do hate to see anybody not being able to play for technical reasons. I like to see all the Accy folks climbing up together.

I'm kinda glad it's getting to the end. For my own "medical" situations, I don't think I'll get involve next month. It's been very gratifying to have much of this kinda memory back but it has had quite a detrimental affect of some disorders I've got. :(

Also. think it only fair that Lanc folk challenge Lanc folk. That way, when it is stuff about American football players colored socks, I'm not able to take advantage of it. Does seem about a 75 - 25% balance in favor of "Yank" questions. Guess I should a put this is a journal or PM.

It's cold and rainy here so guessing a bit SAD too.:rolleyes: (Doggone I hate when me mask falls off!)

Heck, Cinnyose was pretty ticked I beat her out. Now, we're waiting for Annello to get home from work to play. I'll have to keep Cinnyose from assisting her. Those two just can/t stand to have me beat em out!

The questions in the UK should run from 09.00-17.00. then 17.00-01.00, and lastly 01.00-09.00 GMT.

It's very strange. They should have changed at 5pm, but it is now going to be midnight, it says.:confused:

Yeah, like I send in my message to you Rindy, I too missed being able to play the second groupings. Unfortunately, seems like alot of others were still able to play.

Not a big deal I guess but it did have me quite confused. Would be nice if Rindy and I (& Rishton Blue) had a few other Accywebbers playing at least the Regional Trivia!

I can't understand why my times register so slowly. I've actually timed them and I am charged 2 seconds for every second played i.e. if I do it in 60 seconds (which I've never come close to) it registers 120 seconds!

I believe it's a lancashire conspiracy:D. I think, no, I know, that one of you have found a flaw in the system!:rolleyes: Hence you are able, and actually have utilized this flaw for your personal gain!:p

Nah, I just go in there to warm my finger up, like I did this afternoon when I got 15/15 in 64 seconds in the Genius level General Section. Then went on to get 15/15 in the People Section in 70 seconds. Then went on to get 6/15 in History...but we won't talk about that.:D

I too find it kinda goes in waves. Start getting cocky getting 14s and 15s then get slammed with questions that I can't even hazard a stinkin guess on i.e. the hindu, Aussie, the arabic/gaelic/yiddish languages, etc.:D ! Makes it fun eh?

My dear jen;) , it's quite difficult to be consistent! Heck, even The Maestro Rindyroo has a bad game or two:eek: . I have many tough Regional Games. That's why I like the various categories in Global. Get to learn alot of neat facts. Unfortunately it's by getting them wrong more times then I'd like.

Nah willow, I believe it's just the fact that I have dial-up rather than a broad band connection :( (does that make sense? he asks any computer experts:confused: ).

It's odd though cause it doesn't seem to affect the Accy trivia. Maybe cause there are only the 10 questions or maybe I've discovered some hidden speed flaw!:rolleyes: ;) :D

Nah, no team as of yet:( . I asked Rindy about making one up for all the Accyweb players but he said something about "trying to distance [himself] from that whole group!:p ;) " Actually, not sure what he said.

I've been invited to play on various teams from people I don't know but I have no interest in that. Willow, you should hope on an play in the Regional trivia and especially the Global. You get to pick 5 different quizzes out of a selsection of ~15. Hence you get to answer questions from categories that interest you.

I find it fun just to learn from it. I've been a fan of the game show Jeopardy for over 20 years now. This makes it fun to be able to compete with folks around the world!

Is it just me or have the Global Questions for all started to get wicked hard. I find the General and History questions especially difficult as of late!

My main goal is to at least stay above the 1000 point average score as well as finish in the top 150 in the world!

No. No one from Lancashire made it to the Immortals. I was fifth on 30%, LYY was fourth on about 60%, and there were three above us on about 80-90% in the ninth Geniuses divison.

I've just worked out that since October I've played 2,190 games. At about two minutes a game, that's 73 hours, or just over three whole days!:eek:

Now the six month, thrice daily, Global Trivial Challenge has ended, I've just discovered something. I didn't come fifth in Lancashire after all, oh no...I won!

Supposed first place player Pollygw lives in Manchester, which is no longer in Lancashire. Angus_prune should know that Southport is in Merseyside. The last time I went to Todmorden, place of residence of Luckypierre, it was in West Yorkshire, and of course honorary Lanc LYY lives in Virginia.

Thus, I am the true Lancastrian resident winner.

Now where's my crown?:D

Be warned though Rindy Roo, close to getting broadband which shall make the chase that much more challenging.:p I do admit though, by playing over here in the Lancashire group, I've got the American slant advantage as we had in Accyweb Trivia.:cool:

Steeljack, hope you give it all a go. Just think of it as your challenging yourself each game. Plus, you learn all kinds of interesting facts by playing.

Just to remind all: There is Accymel's Trivia, Regional Trivia, and then the Global Trivia. All can be fun, challenging, and a bit of friendly competition.

I'm curious as to how many of the Global players have been recruited by some of the teams. I've had a few and Cindy has had a couple.

I got an email from the "Classical music/Mensa Members Team." They invited me to be on their team due to various factors. Certainly none being my knowledge of classical music nor anything close to Mensaship!

Any idea what the purpose of the teams are? Do they compete against each other? Why would one choose this team over that team?

I've got my mate in Scotland hooked, and it's something he can carry on with when they shortly move to the Canarie Isles.

He sent me an invite to the ' Garinda's scusi du pain por favor' team. In memory of a tour of Europe when I didn't know which country we were in, and embarrassed myself in a restaurant.
