Retlaw, have to admit, am beginning to think I have been told a load of rubbish, but, the lady i spoke to was actually on the field with a clip board. There certainly have been folk there from the Uni in Preston. This lady quite confidently said Time Team were coming next week, but .. Time Team dont seem to know owt about it. (why would the lady tell fibs?) All very odd .... watch this space

A similar thing happened when I used to work for the Lancashire Countryside Service in Grane. We were contacted by a researcher for the Time Team Programme and they sent out a team from Preston to survey the site but they decided that it was not a subject for the programme.

The site in that case was Bentley House in the old grane village where the illegal whisky distilling took place in the 1860's

My theory is that it could be working up to an April 1st prank, perhaps even instigated by the Time Team 'team'.

Fun whichever way though.

Can't see any courses at Preston that specifically cover archeology .. but might be History or summat.

No walkinman I worked for a firm called Pilkington Brothers, Church, who got the contract to dismantle the stand, and burn it on site

^^ I Agree. I can't see Time Time coming to dig such recent stuff up. Would be a bit of a waste of their time; there's lots of photographic evidence of what was there.

Plus, we do have other sites locally that would be much more worthy of exploration. Unless they know something we don't? Perhaps Peel Park was built on a neolithic burial ground? :D Lol.

Its probably her standard answer to people asking her what she's doing, more than likely she's fed up with keep being asked what she's up to.
So winds people up to get rid of them.
She could have been working for any one, just surveying the site for rates, valutation, umpteen possibilities.
Retlaw.

If I was a member of Time Team and given the opportunity to dig around Hyndburn, I would probably choose the river Hyndburn behind the Dunkenhalgh Hotel. It's not a natural watercourse; so what is it?

Have a look at google earth to see what I mean.
