No wonder accy is getting worse when even the facilities are stopped or closed down & they wonder why kids doss on the st corners
HSC, wasn't aware that no changes were made to HBC website, their management committee decided to close early on Sunday at 2pm for swimming section from jan 31st 07, yet today they could of had a pool full this afternoon having a roaring trade but sadly lost their trade to surrounding out of town areas instead & they wonder & yet no member of the public was aware of this change either until they turn up like us today! But the swimming pool closes early than other places at 4.30pm on sat & 5pm weekday so really not great times anyway as earlier than other places that can cater for after school swimmers till 6pm or even 8pm.

Luckily went elsewhere thanks to Hyndburn disappointing quite a lot of kiddies today hoping for a family swim
They're closing the pool at 1.45pm on Saturdays aswell,I found out today.Very annoying, what's going on?They wouldn't let me in today as I had the audacity to turn up with two children aged 6 and 3 and no other adult to accompany me.They said we couldn't go in as the adult/child ratio for the under 4s is one to one.I told them she is nearly 4 and the little one did tears but still the heartless jobsworth stood firm.
Seriously,I know they are only trying to cover themselves in case of accidents and they have to draw the line somewhere but I am losing patience with Hyndburn Sports Centre at the moment. With one thing and another it looks like they don't like customers coming in.

You dont want to swim at any pool where they aren't using enough chemicals. You really don't want to know what gets scooped out of the water.
You really don't want to drink the water

Re: Swimming In Hyndburn Sports Centre

I just thought I'd bring this thread back up as it is getting worse at Hyndburn sports centre.

The cafe has now closed for good.

I was there today with my son, after his lesson we went up to the cafe to get a drink. The shutters were down and there was a note saying that the cafe will not be open again. I made enquiries and apparently they just weren't taking enough money. It always seemed busy enough to me.

Even the vending machines have gone, I assume they belonged to Caterleisure who ran the cafe.

So, a warning to all....if you're going to the sports centre do not expect any food or drink. The chairs and tables are still there in the cafe area so you can still have a sit down but that's about it.

Have Blackburn with Darwen now taken over the running of it, I know it was being proposed. It would explain things a bit better if they have, make the facilites even worse than they were then everyone has to go and spend their money at Waves.

If they haven't then the people who run Hyndburn Leisure should be looking for alternative work.

Blackburn with Darwen haven't taken control yet.

Hello Hyndburn this is 2007, places now open on Sundays, even shops.
Swimming for the public is unavailable on sunday afternoons, because a swimming club Pioneer 79 uses the whole sports centre for teaching four year olds how to swim to training for national swimmers, this arrangement with the swimming club has been very sucessful and has been contiuing a number of years

As a regular user of the sports centre i did miss the cafe and vending machines, but two new vending mahines have been installed with a wider choice of food and drinks than before

How is the success measured ? Don't take a lot of notice of swimming so can't say I know how many people trained at Hyndburn Sports Centre have made the Olympic team.

Re: Swimming In Hyndburn Sports Centre

one thing that wont have helped hyndburn sports center any is that word has got around that they allow teh dirtbags , addicts and teh homeless to use teh showers for 50p on whatever day it was i got told

sure put me off taking my kids there

better still is that waves is apparently shut down because the roof was falling in on people while they swam

theres some sort of argument about closing pools down in haslingden so its a no go there and im not sure if great harwood baths is still open or not
