Re: X...
Poor Diana.....she must be gutted at not being able to perform this week.
Fancy missing out on the chance to sing with Mariah Carey. :( How can it be that Ruth and Laura are in the bottom two tonight? Why is Daniel still in the competition? |
Re: X...
i havent watched it tonight but if Diana doesnt win i hope JLS win
|
Re: X...
Good God, Laura's out and Daniel's still in! What a load of excrement. That girl can sing the nauseating, maudlin Daniel into oblivion and she's also far more versatile than Ruth (but Simon Cowell doesn't fancy her).
|
Re: X...
and Eoghan's still in, and JLS - I'm not saying they're bad but they're really bland - the women are much better
|

What a shocker. Poor Laura. I like Ruth too, and both were outstanding in the sing off. I think these themed nights, Mariah, Michael Jackson etc., are rubbish. They should all be free to sing what best shows off their talent. The worst two tonight, for me, were Daniel and Rachel. Perhaps Rachel got through because she was all hurt and sulky, that won't work two weeks in a row though. |

What's going on? |
Re: X...
Week after next is Cilla week.
With her giving a master class about singing of mucky kids and dustbin lids. What's it all about? |
Re: X...
I'm not overly impressed with Rachel either. I quite like Daniel although i don't think he's the right person for this competition - and after the Ricky Gervais comments I can't see him as anything else.
|
Re: X...
I suppose the idea behind the themed nights is that it puts everyone on an even footing - if they can hack it week after week with the themes it means that they're versatile.
|
Re: X...
Rachel seemed to have lots of potential, and has had every opportunity to show it, but hasn't.
She'd make a good Mama Morton in Chicago, having the right attitude, and inside knowledge of the clink.:D |

What puzzled me is that they said look forward to seeing Diana next week ? Would she not have been automatically been thrown out due to default ? Don't suppose ever happened before. |

Monica and Gabriela will be giving a masterclass about singing 'Touch my bum, this is life......oooooooh we are the cheeky girls.' :D |
Re: X...
I don't like Rachel at all. And I think that she has a big attitude problem. She was rubbish for me tonight. I thought that Daniel and her would have been in the bottom two, and I was hoping for her to go.
|

She must have been very ill for them to do that. |

The executive producers said because it was exceptional circumstances that she could come back next week. It has happened once before.............remember that Rik Myall from Pop Idol (the one before x factor). He had to pull out one week for illness and still got to perfume the following week |

If Daniel had been in the bottom two - regardless of who he would've been up against - they'd have sent him home.

Re: X...
Agree it should have been daniel and rachel in the bottom 2. But daniel should have gone. Thing is he's still there - who is it thats voting for him thats what i want to know.
|
Re: X...
Probably all the old dears.
|
Re: X...
Ruth is at a disadvantage being from Spain so she hasn't got a region or a city voting for her.
That still doesn't explain the Daniel thing though. Maybe he has a lot of Scottish relatives.....the Scots always do well in X factor. They seem to get a lot of support from Scotland. |
Re: X...
Sometimes people vote for the underdogs because they feel sorry for them - like blasted John Sergeant!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: X...
Quote:
Think the reason they put these singers into varying formats is due to the fact they can all hit a note, but they have not found their own style as yet (as Diana), so hoping something will emerge that is different in order for immediate recognition as soon as they sing the first bar. On that record 'Heroes', albeit excellent production, can't tell who is singing what .. all sound like other well-known singers .. ya' gotta have individuality. |

Wasn't Michelle McManus Scottish too? Just shows though that they might win but it doesn't mean that they'll be famous forever. I mean, you can imagine Leona Lewis still being famous in 5 years time, but Leon will be back to stacking shelves. |

She won Pop Idol in 2003. She was last seen last year having her poo examined by Gillian McKeith on 'You are what you eat.' |
Re: X...
It's not only the Scots who vote like that though - all big cities tend to get behind their own, even little places like Accrington/Blackburn are trying to drum up support for their local act.

Wow what a night , Poor Diana, Im so glad they have kept her in to sing next week. It took some time but she really has grown on me. Still think she will struggle to win but at least she stands a good chance of getting there.
The show is now hitting the nitty gritty I think, and I am surprised Daniel is still there although tonight was his best so far. Im not liking Ruth,s over convidence atm similar thing happend to Rydian and he got beaten by leon. Think Ruth need to calm down a little . she knows Simon has the hots for her and I think shes playing it now. Think JLS are in for winning IMO. |
Re: X...
I don't really buy into the whole regional voting idea.
I like Diana, but if I thought she was rubbish I wouldn't vote for her just because she's from Accy. Plus, remember the population of Greater London is larger than the whole of Scotland. |

I think there's no doubt that they try to manipulate the vote. But I can't imagine any of the others would let Diana get away with it if she wasn't really sick.

Appently she is going to sing no matter what. I hope that she does.............she is a good snger and I'm right behind her. Her grandmother used to clean at the pub that my mother used to own, and her grandparents lived on the same road that I live on now. I know her Dad.
Do I need any other claim to fame???? |

Re: X...
I think her voice is very individual, very good in some songs, but obviously not suited to all
The point about her saying she is from Blackburn, is probably what they told her to say, just like Mark Felix (Britains Strongest) being from Blackburn when he is from Rishton Alexandra is very good all round, but I think she just sounds the same as the artist who originally done the songs, one imparticular was candy man, very good performance, I loved it, but no originality Having said that, certain ones get slated for originality although the judges portray that is what they are looking for:rolleyes: Should be a good en tonight:D |
Re: X...
Quote:
I think Alexandra is very good but too similar to Leona Lewis and we don't really need another. |
Re: X...
Quote:
Well, as he's had a huge amount of success with Leona Lewis whereas other X-factorites have flopped horrendously - Steve Borestein, Michelle McManus and the bland one from Scotland who won last year - perhaps someone else like Leona Lewis wouldn't be a bad thing for the Cowell. |
Re: X...

After all Laura is from Atherton, which has a BL postcode, and she says she's from Bolton. Michelle 'Mick' McManus was from Baillieston, which has a Glasgow code, and she was shown as representing that city. I think the matter is settled. The programme is sponsored by the Post Office.:D XF1 1TV. :D |
Re: X...
Nah, Atherton's M46 (it was one of "my" areas when I was working). It's nearer Leigh than Bolton too.
It's obvious, the producers go for place-names that they know how to spell. This is why you don't get many Welsh people on and, if you do, they all come from Cardiff. :D |

Re: X...
Daniel, well bless, got to love a tryer haven't you.
Diana, the only one who's different. Eoghan, too soppy. Alexandra, belted brilliantly but I don't think another Leona Lewis is what we want. Ruth, too much, she scares me. So finally Rachel gets an excuse to sing her Amy Winehouse song and predictably it was an ok impersonation. She's a one trick pony - time to go love. |
Re: X...
Nice to see Accy on national television tonight, on Diana's VT of her visit home, even if they did say it was Blackburn.
Loved her song choice, one of my favourites, and I think her vunerability, and the fact she isn't yet A1, added to to it's beauty. As for the rest.... Eggnog, didn't like it. His voice is really thin, which is what his hair needs, a good thinning. Alexandra, was good, but she never gives me goose bumps. Not someone I feel connected to. JLS, ok-ish, but agree it wasn't very hip. Ruth, someone I usually love, but didn't tonight. Bad choice of song, didn't suit her at all. Rachel was good. Love her voice when she sings like that. Would pay to see her sing the songs of Billie Holiday, Etta James etc. Stick with what your good at. Daniel. Would think he was good if he was singing in the Queen Vic. Would think he was dire if I'd paid to see him at the Albert Hall. |
Re: X...
Oh, i forgot about JLS - well i think that shows what i think about them :D

Re: X...
Yaaaaay! We're finally going to see the back of one of them in a minute.
Daniel and Rachel in the bottom two. :mosher: Daniel just had to mention one more time that he will be singing for his kids and family. |

Well, Amen to the end of Dreary Daniel, no more Dead Wives Club. I don't like Rachel but, I will concede, she was better tonight.
Sorry if I upset anyone in Accrington but Diana should go next. I am sick of hearing her hiccupping, a gimmick she obviously thinks may get her somewhere but it just grates on me. Ruth - not so good tonight and JLS were pretty average as was Alexandra. Oggin looks favourite - he certainly is with our Laura (it's real puppy love) - he has the "cute" factor. Oh what the hell. I don't really give a damn, it's all crap when you get down to it. :D |

You upset me earlier.;) Besides people from Oswaldtwistle probably wouldn't get past the first auditions, as they tend to be more classically minded in here in Gobbinland, as witnessed by opera star John Tomlinson, and Sir Harrison Birtwistle, who had to leave his birthplace because there were too many 'wistles' for him to be taken seriously.:D |

Re: X...
I knew Irene Stephens very well when I was young. I was very friendly with her cousin Pauline and we all went to St Mary's Primary School. We used to put on "shows" in Pauline's back yard and Irene always sang, she did have a very good voice. I knew her until we were both in our late teens when we began to go our separate ways.
Irene's real name wasn't Spillane, as the article says. Her first husband's name was Spillane but the marriage didn't last very long. I have had no contact with her since she went to live in the US but I have "spoken" to Pauline, via FriendsReunited. |
Re: X...
I knew her too - she was cousin to one of the New Lane girls I mated out with.
I remember she was strikingly pretty having blond hair and dark eyebrows. |

I'm glad Daniel went, but I must admit I also thought Diana should be in the bottom
Her performance was well... rubbish She may not have recovered properly, but it didn't sound good If she'd of had another week off, would she of been kicked out? Hmm |
Re: X...
I thought Diana or Laura would win from the start, Diana wasnt too good last night, she will need to be well and put on a better performance from here on, her looks and the quirky little voice will only take her so far.
|
Re: X...
i thought Diana sounded like Cilla Black on acid last night, her performance was crap
|
Re: X...
Sooooooooo in this weeks Th`Observer Diana finally admits she is from Accrington( sort of) but is happy to go along with the `Little Diana from Blackbuuurn` tag.......cheers love.

Re: X...
Diana was amazing tonight!
|
Re: X...
Tho have to disprove the 'uniqueness' of Diana's voice, just proved the theory to my daughter ....... listen to the Cranberries & imagine Diana singing it mmmm sound very samey to me:rolleyes:
YouTube - The Cranberries - Linger YouTube - Zombie-Cranberries Now she could win it hands down with their songs:D |
Re: X...

They asked me if I'd like Diana if she wasn't a homegirl, and my answer is yes. I love her quirkyness, her vunerability, and her willowy beauty. I'd give anything to hear her sing the Ballad of Lucy Jordan by Marianne Faithfull, that would be sublime, heavenly. Alexandera and Ruth were also on top form too, but I hope it's Rachel who's going home, despite Danni's tears in a bid to gain sympathy votes. |

Re: X...
Though I'm usually very partisan for anyone/anything from my native area, I really can't stand Diana. She's false and, at times, her voice sounds ludicrous. The trouble is, I bet she could be really good if she dropped the gimmicks. I can't stand Rachel either. She's not too bad a singer, though not brilliant, but her attitude gets up my nose.
I thought Alexandra was fabulous tonight, Ruth a close second. Oggin is still no great shakes but has the cute factor and JLS are - a boy band, full stop. Nik, who doesn't like boy bands, thinks JLS are really good! |
Re: X...

I was saying the same to my mum last week about her sounding like the cranberries (but mum doesnt know who the cranberries are ) I thought she was quite good at the beginning, but as time goes on im going off her Cant you tell people are bringing new albums out in time for Xmas though, last week it was leona lewis, this week we have same difference and Rydian, both who have albums due out on monday. Not too sure who I want to go this week though, missed the first two acts due to crying child  |
Re: X...
I thought Diana was good. But then again I like her. Her voice is unique.
And she is homegrown as well. Lets just get behind her and give her some support. Rachel for me is going this week. She can sing some songs, but her attitude is terrible. Not too sure who will be in the bottom two with her, but guess at JLS, whom I thought didn't do too well tonight, although I do like them. Wasnt' at there best for me tonight |

Re: X...
Im doing the same lol
|
Re: X...
Yes!!!!!!!!
|
Re: X...
Rachel's time was up. She'd had more than one chance to shine, and only ever really did in the sing offs, when I presume she got to chose her own song.
I thought DFS were flat tonight, and considering they kept to the original arrangement, their voices sounded thin compared with Take That's. As for Diana, she is Marmite. I loathe Marmite, but I adore her.:) |
Re: X...
Diana is indeed like a yeast extract spread ,love her or hate her , and whats that Eunuch(:D) or whatever he`s called....he should be back at primary school.

Re: X...
Am soo glad Rachel went this week
The right people were in the bottom Diana was definitely better this week, don't like her as much as I did tho Got goosebumps all over from Ruth's performance, she was great!:D |

Thought Accy lass was'nt so good, could'nt hear her voice as the backing song was far to loud, maybe they were trying to cover up she's still having problems with her voice & as the judges have earmarked her to win it they needed to cover up any short comings in her vocals.:confused:As for the Irish boy,Egg Nog,...VOTE HIM OFF NOW,his fat head is doing mine in.How big is he for a 12 year old or whatever age he is.Get yer hair sorted boy.
Can i just add that i did'nt watch this programme voluntarily, iwas in the other room listening to music by bands that had payed their dues by relentless touring & playing sh**** clubs to earn a fraction of what these Cowell production line wannabes will earn.I had to pass the TV in the other room to get a can from the fridge.;) |
