Since my friends in Gran Canaria will call me in every ad break, for my comments, I suppose I'd better watch.

Still, got to have something to fill the gap now BB is coming to an end.

Now we don't have seasons, just rain all year round, it's nice have these annual programmes.

Soon be the X-Factor finals...and Christmas.:D

It is a shame tho for them that are really encouraged by friends and family
I mean, what kind of people are they to put someone they care about through that!:(

It aint just the rejection is it, It's the humiliation aswell

Sometimes for months, even years after, they are replaying the awful auditions

I'll be watching, even if I didn't want to the kids are now of an age where they are into it so it will be on in our house.

I've got to say though......2006 gave us Leona Lewis, fabulous.

What a let down 2007 was.....Leon Jackson, never heard of him since. :(

She was ridiculed last year for her dress, which her dad had made
and for singing like a baby.

Her parents came into the audition room to beg Simon Cowell to put her through but all they got from him was a telling off for giving her false hopes. :D

I watched it this afternoon, i thought it was very good, but I did think they could have shown a few more auditions that were good. I know thats what people like about the audition episodes but I do think they put way to much emphasis on the bad ones and the sob stories.

Agree with you lolly i hate the sob stories,so cliched and over the top.

I wouldn't say it's a huge image change myself...she's just not wearing that horrific wedding style dress that she wore last year.

There's always a sob story or ten on xfactor.....we've had dead mums, dead dads, dead wives, people who've been in prison and have turned their lives around to name but a few.

Good to see local girl, and hippy chick, Diana Vickers, has made it to the last few at boot camp.

Apparently she's at my niece's school, but I can't find out any gossip iof she's still there.

This year's girls seem particularly strong.

Should be a good series.

Yeah, it's so cool. Lets hope she stays in right to the final.

Apparently she is from Accy but went to school in Blackburn. My niece is really excited as she was one of a group filmed in the library at Westholme, doing the 'she's got the X-Factor' cross armed thing.

Besides being local, she seems fairly unique, and reminds me a little of Alex Parks, who won Fame Academy a couple of years ago.

Not that you want to be Trashley Cole.....he is vile.

When he cheated on Cheyrl with that hairdresser he threw up in her car and again during sex and then told her she was privileged that Ashley Cole had blown chunks all over her. :(

I don't really get what you're saying there.

It sounds like you're saying that because Cheryl was convicted of assault in a nightclub about 6 years ago she deserves to be lied to, cheated on and humiliated by her husband.....am I right?

I think she`s awful (but i do agree with garinda, a bit Alex Parks) Laura from Bolton if fantastic but my favorite is Alexandra.......her voice is as good as any American singer we have heard, was suprised that Bad Lashes went because Girlband are just like my sister in law and her mates having a sing song down the pub.

garinda 11-10-2008 22:53

Re: X...

Well done Diana!

I'm really glad the public got her. She's ethereal, very English, in a willowy blond eccentric way, and reminds me of a young Marianne Faithful, or Judy Tzuke..

Got to agree about that other Lancashire lass, Laura. Wow. Her jazzy, soulful tones, blew me away. I'd pay to see her.

All three girls are good. Alexandra is a diva in the making.

Good first live show.

Bad song choices for nearly everyone.

Lastly the show's stylist needs shooting, and they should nab the frock maker from Strictly...quick!

I think he does most of the costumes and styling for the acts too.

He must have slept with someone, to get the job.

As a former Creative Director myself, I could creatively tell him where to go, and in which direction he should do it.:D

I only watched it for the first time tonight just to see our local lass Diana... I thought she was terrific. Yes, different, but an individual style wins in the end, and think that with promotion and expertise she could be on the lines of Kate Bush. If she doesn't win, sure they will do something with her.

Actually loved her outfit Garinda .. suited her style. Just wish she wouldn't crouch so much.

Can't comment much on the others as not seen their previous performances, but thought Alexandra was rubbish.(And that suit !) The girl group was fairly mediocre, and the boy group JLS (?) professional but not very handsome.

The others .. 10 a penny.

That was an appalling song choice.

Could have had the vocals of any backing singer, and okay to dance to, if you're off your rocker in some club in Ibizia.

Poor girl. She actually has a good voice, but having international singing 'star' Danni Minogue as her mentor is a bit of a handicap.

Great start to the show IMO .. Think our lassy from B/Burn is not winning material but she will definately do well in the comp, Lovely unusual vocals. Trying for a jos stone image (SP) imo
the right ones left I think although the other girlband was ok .

Re: X...

Wow, tonight's big band show was amazing.

Although the guys were really just the warm up acts for the ladies.

Every girl was outstanding.

Loved Accy's own Bibaesque songbird Diana.

Bolton's Laura was spellbinding, though personally I prefer the Fosse arrangment of the song, that he did for Liza Minelli, rather than Billie Holiday version.

My favourite performance, of the best show yet, was Ruth Lorenzo. She gave me goose bumps, as well as looking fantastic, sort of a Latino Veronica Lake. I take back my comments about the costumes, on the whole the styling has much improved.

Who do I think should be in the bottom two?

JLS, or DFS as I prefer to call them, as that's where they'll probably end up working.

Eoghan, or as I prefer to call him, little Irish emo, troll, gonk.

I thought Daniel was definitely going when he was in the bottom two just then but he scraped through.

He's not my cup of tea but he did put a lot into that final performance....even Louis was scriking!

I'll hold my mouth open while you all jump down my throat but I am sick and tired of Daniel and his sob story. Personally, I think it's very distasteful the way he keeps referring to his late wife. He's not a very spectacular singer and tonight, again, he played on the sympathy vote. Louis Walsh is a silly old queen.

Our Laura has a crush on Eoghan so she's desparate for him to win but my money's on Ruth, she's fantastic, with Laura from Bolton a close second. I do not like Diana's voice with that silly hiccup. It grates on me.

I agree with Westender, Daniel is milking his sad story for all it's worth. It makes the Peter Kaye parody, about R Wayne only getting through because R Gran died, seem very realistic.

He'd be an okay singer if you saw him in the pub, but he wasn't half as good as Scott.

Diana's in the Sun, talking about her cousin, also from Accrington, who's in the army.

Diana VIckers: I'll top chart for my cousin | The Sun |News|Campaigns|Our Boys

So where is Diana really from, Accrington or Blackburn , she says Balckburn but the media say Accrington.........? when the vt on the first show, showed her at home with here mum i`m certain that her house was on Burnley Road...............Accrington or not , her voice gets on my nerves...Alexandra or Laura to win for me.

I might be wrong pipinfort. But i am sure that i read somewhere that she was born in Accrington but moved to Blackburn not that long ago. Also that she goes to School in Blackburn.

I think she lives in Accrington and goes to school in Blackburn.

However, on the vt she keeps saying 'Im just little Diana from Blackburn.'

Maybe she's been told to say that in case no-one's heard of Accrington.:D

Maybe she doesn't want people knowing exactly where she lives.....there are some strange folk out there who'd go and pay a visit to her house.

She could be really mysterious, and say she's from Hyndburn.:D

I agree with the two of you.

Daniel is annoying me now with his 'I'm singing this for my wife' lines.

Niki was the same last year.....every song was for her dead dad. :(

As you say, Garinda, it does make the Peter Kay show very realistic.

Again strong competition from the other girls in the competition, but by far my favourite performance tonight was by Diana.

Laura started off amazigly, but didn't have the rawness of Jocelyn Brown, who did the original, to carry it off.

Nice to see that when pushed Will Young endorsed Diana.:)

Yep, thought Diana did really well tonight. It was strong, powerful but really different.

But, I thought her outfit was wrong, wrong, wrong!

Diana was fabulous tonight......it's so exciting to think about what will happen if she wins! :D

I wasn't surprised to see Rachel in the bottom two but was surprised that the judges saved her over Austin.....I thought they'd have sent her home.

West Ender 01-11-2008 22:45

Re: X...

Diana was better than I've seen her.....if she can only stop doing the Little Richard squeal, she'll be good.

I thought Laura was fantastic, Ruth not far behind, but what the hell is Daniel doing still there? He's mediocre at best.

Our Laura is ecstatic that Eoghan is still in there. There's nothing to compare with a 9 year old's crush. :p
