Re: X...
I had the unfortunate experiance to switch on to this show yesterday evening, for the very first (and last) time; I am absolutely amazed to see that 201 postings have been made on this drivel. Many years ago there was a programme called "Opportunity Knocks" and from what I can see the X factor follows a similar format of allowing the public to vote on various acts. With Opportunity Knocks, however, most of the contestants did have some degree of talent; many played a musical instument. In not one instance last night did I see anyone with guitar, piano or even spoons - every turn was no more than a glorified Karioke sing along, by people with the vocal range of a cat under torture. Now I find that one of these characters maybe from Accy. Please, let this not be true..let us maintain some standards for our town.

Everyone could be compared to someone if you go back. No-one begrudged Leona Lewis when she was compared to Whitney Houston. Quote:
I said the same thing today and The Ballad of Lucy Jordan is not a common song. How strange that we both thought of that song!:D |

We'll have to have a range of shoes called the Lucy Jordans.:D Opportunity Knocks had the clap-o-meter. It was probably having the clap that made old Teabag like that programme more. |

Re: X...
Its been announced that the winners song is going to be Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. Diana sung this at boot camp, but, even though I want Diana to win, I think that all the contestants still in would be able to do their own take on it. I'd especially like to here a rock ballad version of it by Ruth (whos my 2nd favourite after Diana)

Re: X...
I'm now reading it may not be "Hallelujah" some sources are saying its going to be "Born To Try" originally done by Delta Goodrem, which would fit better with the X Factor winners song "mould" but Simon Cowell has been associated with "Hallelujah" a few times this year it was sung a number of times on American Idol, it was on the boot camp set list and its on Il Divo's album.
I'd prefer Hallelujah though, as I love the song. |
Re: X...
Come on Alexandra........................I believe that Britney won`t be giving a masterclass this week so perhaps Alexandra might have time to give Britney one..... ( a masterclass obviously)
|
Re: X...
Quote:
Though she will be giving a masterclass in how to shave a tuppence. Loved Diana's second REM song, the first was dire. Hopefully she'll make it through to next week, and be able to sing songs more suited to her voice. A voice I've decided sounds like a young Cilla, in that it's very nasal, and comes from the back of her throat. That must be why I like her, as I love early Cilla.:mosher: Alexandra and Ruth were amazing too, but won't be getting my votes.:D |
Re: X...
Quote:
That's what I don't like about Diana. To me she sounds like Cilla on Speed (crossed with Little Richard) and I thought Harry Hill had it just right, on TV Burps last week, when he said she did a Kenneth Williams impression. It's a shame because, underneath all the gimmicks, there is a good voice. P.S. Laura's voted for Oggin again. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins as all the little girls are in love with him. :D |

Re: X...
No way should Ruth have gone tonight. :(
She was excellent. I don't think Diana was at her best tonight. I actually thought she might have gone this time. |
Re: X...
Well, Oggin's still in. Oh, the power of the under-10s' votes. :D
|
Re: X...
Ruth shouldnt have gone ..... it shoud have been eoghan ..... but thats the way the public vote. He's probably got all of northern ireland voting for him!!!!
|
Re: X...
Diana atrocious yet again and JML marginally better, Ruth should not have gone, can't believe the Gonk is still in either! And if they let Diana murder my all time fave "Halleleujah" there will be hell to pay. Grrrrrr
|
Re: X...
Her second song. Ahh. :] :]
|
Re: X...
Think either eoghan or Diana should have gone tonight, You couldnt really hear Eoghan on the 2nd song and Diana is just sounding the same all the time . At least Alex and Ruth really put thier heart and soul into the songs they sing..
|
Re: X...
Wonder if Simon Cowell's comments swung some of the voting public ? When Alexandra performed he stressed quite strongly that it was the British X-Factor and he was proud to be British.

Re: X...
I did fear for Diana's position in the show this week, and after the negative comments from the panel, this seemed to be confirmed.
Nothing to do with the song choices, or her performance. More to do with the public backing from the leader of H.B.C. I could feel a backlash brewing.:D |
Re: X...

I agree, Think Ruth is already signed into Saucy Simons love shack. Its like a well mapped route:D and the raunchy Ruth has done a fair bit of flirting already with SEMON :D |

I think Diana will be on her way tonight.
|
Re: X...
Oh well, seems I'll be buying Rick Astley's single off iTunes to try and knock xfactor off #1 now. ;)
|
Re: X...
You were right derek ..... shes gone ..
|
Re: X...
Gutted.:(
It was Diana's best peformance for weeks. Still, it's been great exposure. Guess she was just too cool for the X Factor. |
Re: X...

The others well, to me, totally zzzzzzz:- Alex : Although good vocally, has nothing special to offer other than what past singers have .. too many notes of Whitney Houston, drama of Shirley Bassey and technical monotony of Barbra Streisand .. totally boring. Would go and put the kettle on whilst she is performing. Eonogh : Please will someone hand him a toilet roll after he has passed what appears to have been impacted ... a smile would help. Putting a puggy faced teenager singing sexy songs to glamorous dancers was a complete turn off .. almost 'ahem' JLS: Will probably be handed a good song at the end of the day, but nothing 'X' for me with them. Ha ha that topple he did tonight was hilarious Anyway, that's what I feel .. have only watched the last four broadcasts .. not interested at all now. |
Re: X...
Quote:
G, I know you like a bit of a laugh but come on..... she's a talentless bimbo, I don't understand how she lasted so long, baffling. |
Re: X...
I think ITV fixed the result to save themselves some embarrasment. Each finalist needs a home town for the final to have the audience participation. As Diana can't actually make her mind up which town it is they didn't know where to book a room :D

I'm with Lindsay Ormerod here regarding Diana. I didn't see the show tonight as I was upstairs wrapping Xmas presents (eeeaaaarrrrgh! what a job!) until after the voting but I wasn't sorry to see her go. Could have done without Oggin blubbing all over her but I have heard they are an "item", much to our Laura's disgust. ;)
I think JLS will win, though I think Alexandra ought to, but Nik thinks Oggin will. We'll see. :) |

I was looking forward to the concert in King William street on Monday.....I was considering going. There's no rubbish left, it's all down to personal preference now. Alexandra has a fab voice, too similar to Leona Lewis but there's nothing she can do about that. Eoghan and JLS were both on good form tonight but I can take or leave them really. Hee hee.....did you see the state of Eoghan when Diana went? :D You'd have thought she'd died, not just been voted off the x factor. That performance certainly added fuel to the rumours about the two of them. |
Re: X...
I do think it's a shame that she's lost out but I don't think she's been mentored properly.
She's been wearing the wrong clothes and singing the wrong songs - I don't think they quite new what to do with her. |

I know the Guardian's not known for it's cutting edge fashion editorials, but it might be time to take a look at the broader picture, when it comes to what's hot, and what's not, in the world of couture. What Diana wore each week was bang on the Herve Leger drum. Love Luella x :D |

Re: X...
It's a shame she has gone. She had a unique voice which you either loved or hated. I loved it, and thought that she had her best week ever this week.
Go Diana, you may be out of the x factor, but I don't think we have heard the last of you yet |
Re: X...
Wanted.....For Murder....Diana Vickers has killed so many songs over the last few weeks she should be sent down...................VOTE ALEXANDRA ( although i have a horrible feeling DFS may win it:mad:)

Re: X...
Let's not forget that it's not always the winner of the battle, who wins the war.
Steve Bumstein, Mick McManus, and last year's winner Krankie Jr., aren't exactly still hot. Whilst other losers, like lil Ray Quin, and Big Brenda have gone on to have rave reviews in the West End, and Riddy's album looks like it's going to storm the Christmas charts. |
Re: X...
Although i thought she was terrible, i must admit i think she was at her strongest this week and deserved to go less than any other week.

Completely agree with you ...............i picked Ray as a potential winner from the auditions and was gutted when he was kicked of bootcamp but glad when Simpon changed his mind.......... |
Re: X...
I havent seen tonights show, will watch it tomorrow afternoon, but i know whos gone and am gutted, she was really something different in the X Factor!!
We knew that Alex was going to get through, because they've already signed a deal with Beyonce to sing with her in the final, its all one big fix tbh!!!! I hope anyone except Eggnog wins now!! I'll never watch the programme again if he does!!! He doesnt deserve it in the slightest!!!!!!!!!!!! He murdered my fav song of all time, and i know it might be sad that it is my fav but "Never Forget" by Take That has got to be one of the best songs ever written!!!!!!! Gary Barlow is a GENIUS!!!! |
Re: X...
My votes on JLS to win, I like them more than the others who are left. I must admit though wasnt overly impressed with her first song last night (maybe because im not a big fan of the song anyway) but really liked the Dido one she did last night, thought she sung it well
|
Re: X...
I think `Little Diana` would make a mint as a Dido tribute act.....:D

Re: X...

I'm no big Eggnog fan, however, I think he was on good form last night. I think anything could happen now and he certainly deserves to win more than last year's washout.........mind you, I deserve to win more than he did! |

Alexandra deserved to win tonight, though I would still have prefered an all girl final, with either Laura, Ruth, or of course Diana.
Diana's version of Hallelujah is still the best though. Second only to Mr Gloom himself, Leonard Cohen's. YouTube - Diana Vickers singing Hallelujah at bootcamp :) |

I did like her a bit more tonight because she's turning into a right little diva, unable to even speak to poor Dermot. I'd pay to see her in a theatre production of Dream Girls, but I'm unlikely ever to buy her music. |
