Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Hooray Strictly is back for the new series tonight:) Any other avid Strictly fans out there? One of the best programmes of the year IMHO:D
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
I would watch that if it didn't clash with x factor.....I'm into that now. :)
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
It didn't clash - thoroughly enjoyable.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Cannot wait for the girls next week.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Took myself off in the garden with a bottle of Vino whilst wife , kids mother in law etc watched it , then re wound it and watched it some more.....!
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Same here would watch it if it didnt clash with x factor and vids broken . ummmm sorry x factor has to win . its getting serious now lol.

Its bad enough having freeview lol. Hubby would be well confused if we gave him any more options hahaha |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
I didnt see it, was watching bits of xfactor while tidying up, might try and catch it next week
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
12 Million watched the final last year. X Factor lost out bigtime.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Have watched ever seris so far, its a great program and would be better if they got rid of Brucy, he's past his sell by date. I hope nobody votes to get rid of Ole Jordon (can't remember wo her parter is because I wasn't looking at him) she was actally nearly n her dress last night:D
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Agree about Bruce, but this will is last....I so hope.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Just watched it and it was brilliant, can't wait for next weeks:)
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

It wasn't on at the same time as X-Factor - Strictly started at 6.30pm and finished at 7.30pm and X-Factor started at 7.30pm - I watched them both!
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
I am glad John Sergeant wasent voted out,,,he did realy well, and i just love that song Come away with me,,,,,,,,,sigh :D
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Did anybody notice Tess Daly's dress last night, didn't do a lot for her, she usually looks stunning, ut last night I didn't like that dress at all. I think the right one took the early bath last night, wonder what the girls will be like next week
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Can't say I was over keen on the dress either jaysay. There were some pretty decent efforts by the fellas, will be interesting to see how they progress. Will look forward to watching the girls next week, you don't really get any idea when they do a group dance.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Well Gillian aka Cathy Beale was voted out, hard to really judge when standard is so high. Don't think Brendan Cole is doing his partner any favours with his attitude. Sorry GC, John Seargeant was bad tonight unless his dance next week is a big improvement think he should be next to go.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Well as per usual people are voting for the person rather than the dancing:( John Sergeant was terrible this week and is still in, he may be a lovely bloke but he just can't dance bless him:rolleyes:
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
I was really annoyed at Andrew and Mark not being in the bottom two tonight. Mark looks positively odd when he tries to 'dance'.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Yep got to agree and that top that Mark was wearing was horrible, Tess thanked him on behalf of the women for wearing it but it looked ridiculous:rolleyes: Just hope people start voting for the better dancers soon:)

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Strictly outshines the rubbish X-Factor on every count. If the X-Factor 'talent' is the best we have to offer, then God help us. You were right about the ridiculous string vest that Mark wore. Don should never have been voted off. :theband:
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
If John Sergeant gets through this week I will be very annoyed. The others are far better dancers and the public need to be voting for that rather than somebodies personnality. Len said as much in his comments, so hope the public were listening!!!

I thought Tom's Quick Step was amazing tonight. It was if he was flying. He would have scored a 10 from me. Two tens would also have been awarded to Cherie and Lisa's outfits. Spot on.:D |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
I Love John Sergeant,,i Dont Want Him To Go,,,ooh He Is Jo Brands Twin Brother,,,,
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Agree even the dancers that weren't spot on left John way out in the shade.
The probable reason Tom didn't get a ten was being first on, shame really but think that will change as the show progresses. Yes the outfits are superb, don't think there were any tonight that you could say otherwise about.:) |

|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
No, no, no, no, NOOOOOO - a travesty!
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
I was out last night and missed it but caught up with it tonight on the other channel why not try that
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Un bloody believable he is still there, such a shame to see Rachael in the dance off after she danced so well:mad: At least the judges have let their feelings be known:(
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
It is farcical that someone as good as Rachel was in the bottom two, whilst John sailed through to the next round.
I'm all for supporting the underdog, but if John was a dog it would be legless, and scoot around madly on a lttle trolley. |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Yep, it was funny to a point but it's beyond the joke now.
There is the argument that if someone's going to win it doesn't matter what order the others go out in but there doesn't seem to be a clear winner this year. |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Unlike last year there isn't a clear favourite, and the scores at the top being so close, plus the way some are brilliant one week and pants the next, make it exciting.
John has to go, in the interest of fairness. |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Quote:
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
It also shows how anyone is vulnerable because Rachel was fourth from the judges she must have come last from the audience vote to have mathematically have been in the bottom two.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
The British public and their voting patterns are crazy.
Strictly. X Factor. St. Andrew's ward '06. :D |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Oooh I am glad johns still there, even if he is awfal ,,,i love to see the venim on the judges faces,,and like he said half the votes are down to the public,,,,,:alright:anyway it keeps the others on their toes
:hesoff:IS THIS ME NOW?? |

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Well its definitely the Kate Garraway syndrome all over again, but having said that Kate was like Ginger Rogers compared with John. I think John is the worst dancer there has ever been since the start of the series 5 years ago, Skippy would have made a better contestant

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
When i think of John as the bull fighter marching about i cant stop laughing,,but when he danced to Come away with me it was lovely...i want him to stay and make the others sweat/swear
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
It is not fair that the others are working so hard and John just doesn't seem to be that bothered. I think he should step down now, he knows he can't dance and the way things are going one of the good dancers is going to end up losing their place:mad:
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
They wont let him be voted off until the very last show, because he keeps people watching - they dont want to miss the show where he does get voted off
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Although I do think its very unfair that John is still in, its happened twice before on Strictly, with both Julian Clarey & Chris Parker. Neither of them could dance for toffee yet they made it to the last two (in different series.)
Saying that though I dont think its going to happen this year. I'm sure he'll go next week. (Then again I said that this week! lol) |

Strictly 'world's most watched'
Strictly Come Dancing has spawned more international spin-offs than any other programme, according to new figures. The BBC show's format has been sold to 38 countries, industry magazine Television Business International said. The show is sold internationally as Dancing With The Stars to countries including Chile, India and Japan. BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Strictly 'world's most watched' I love John, but want him gone! |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Strictly Saudi's good.
All the men dance together downstairs, and the women dance unseen, upstairs on the balcony. :D |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

I've been giving this far too much thought, but let's face it what else is there to do on a Monday night other than argue with Garinda about the marketing demographics of local newspapers! Anyway, I think Rachel was in the bottom two i.e. very few people voted for her, because she's too perfect. She's clearly very good dancer and she's beautiful, she works very hard but she doesn't show much emotion when she gets voted through. Looking at all the others, they all have 'something' that people can get behind and want to vote for. |

,,,Because I For I Love Him,,,,,I hope they do give him 4 zeros,,That would just make the viewers come out in force,,,,I have never voted ,but i CERTAINLY would if they did that
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
It makes no difference whether they give him 0 or more - he'll still be at the bottom of the leader board so will still get the 1pt, and because there are now only 8 people in the contest the leader will only get 8pts.
If he's bottom of the judges leader board he only needs to be about fourth or fifth with the viewers to give him enough points to rise above the others. The only way they could really protest would be to give everyone else 40 pts and him less so that they ALL got 8pts to start off with and he only got his 1pt. That way it would be impossible for him to be anywhere but in the dance off - then they could vote him off after that. |

Thank you to whichever controller decided not to have the show head to head with X Factor.
It used to get so complicated if you wanted to watch both shows. Rachel's Rumba was very impressive, as was Austin's Tango. Time for the underdog to visit the vets, and be put out of his, and our, misery. |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Yep got to agree, although it was John's best dance yet you could no way compare him to any of the others for dance skills. Please don't let him be there after tomorrow nights show:(

I thought they all gave a good show last night even John was not that bad, but compared to the others he really is out of his depth. Just one thing, how Rachel's boyfriend could sit in the audience an watch her dance with anther bloke like that is way beyond me. Read an interview with Bruno this morning, he said that it helps dancers to perform if they are sleeping together, but he didn't know if any of the contestants were doing it this year:rolleyes:

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Seems the powers that be at the BeeB are going to make sure this farce can't happen again. Next year they're going to introduce a new rule, anybody at the bottom of the leader board three weeks running will be disqualified, yippee:mosher:

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
John Sergeant has just announced he's pulling out of the show.
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Sergeant to pull out of Strictly |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Oh, now I'm torn - I wanted him out but I don't think it's right that he should do this.
In all fairness, much as I didn't want him in I did accept that the rest of the voting public seemed to want to see him and so we all have to accept that decision. I wonder what they'll do this week then as no one will be needed to do a dance off? |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
Quote:
I don't think he should have quit. He played the game by the rules, even if the judges didn't like it. Hopefully the public would eventually have come to their senses as to the quality of his dancing, and if they didn't...so be it. |

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
As the money raised is going to children in need, they must have been raising a lot of money from the phone call for keeping John Sergeant in.
I expect that the people keeping John in will not be voting for anybody else. Therefore money lost for children in need. Surely it’s all about fun. He was being kept in because the voters wanted to be entertained. There are rules. They should keep to them. |
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
It said on the B.B.C. news you can claim your money back if you voted for John to stay.
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
It has emerged that John Sergeant stepped down because he is due to go on a cruise. He never expected to stay in so long, puts a new slant on his pulling out and shows it was hardly a noble gesture on his part:(
|
Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008
As some one who watched the program for the dancing I'm glad John has stood down. I was brought up watching Come Dancing back in the 50s and 60s when it was Victor Silvester and his slow, slow quick quick slow. I have one regret, which is, I never learnt to ballroom dance, once went to the Court School of Dancing, over Burton's, in Lord St. Blackburn, one Sunday night when I was in my teens, but it was a mitigated disaster and never went back. I actually went with another Accy Web member but I won't embrace him by telling you who he is, but if he reads this he'll remember:rolleyes:
