Have watched ever seris so far, its a great program and would be better if they got rid of Brucy, he's past his sell by date. I hope nobody votes to get rid of Ole Jordon (can't remember wo her parter is because I wasn't looking at him) she was actally nearly n her dress last night:D

Did anybody notice Tess Daly's dress last night, didn't do a lot for her, she usually looks stunning, ut last night I didn't like that dress at all. I think the right one took the early bath last night, wonder what the girls will be like next week

BERNADETTE 22-09-2008 10:50

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

Can't say I was over keen on the dress either jaysay. There were some pretty decent efforts by the fellas, will be interesting to see how they progress. Will look forward to watching the girls next week, you don't really get any idea when they do a group dance.

BERNADETTE 28-09-2008 22:34

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

Well Gillian aka Cathy Beale was voted out, hard to really judge when standard is so high. Don't think Brendan Cole is doing his partner any favours with his attitude. Sorry GC, John Seargeant was bad tonight unless his dance next week is a big improvement think he should be next to go.

BERNADETTE 19-10-2008 22:01

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

Well as per usual people are voting for the person rather than the dancing:( John Sergeant was terrible this week and is still in, he may be a lovely bloke but he just can't dance bless him:rolleyes:

Strictly outshines the rubbish X-Factor on every count. If the X-Factor 'talent' is the best we have to offer, then God help us. You were right about the ridiculous string vest that Mark wore. Don should never have been voted off. :theband:

If John Sergeant gets through this week I will be very annoyed. The others are far better dancers and the public need to be voting for that rather than somebodies personnality. Len said as much in his comments, so hope the public were listening!!!

It is annoying, especially for the judges, and those competitors who can actually dance, but I suppose that's the show.

I thought Tom's Quick Step was amazing tonight. It was if he was flying. He would have scored a 10 from me.

Two tens would also have been awarded to Cherie and Lisa's outfits. Spot on.:D

Agree even the dancers that weren't spot on left John way out in the shade.

The probable reason Tom didn't get a ten was being first on, shame really but think that will change as the show progresses.

Yes the outfits are superb, don't think there were any tonight that you could say otherwise about.:)

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

It is farcical that someone as good as Rachel was in the bottom two, whilst John sailed through to the next round.

I'm all for supporting the underdog, but if John was a dog it would be legless, and scoot around madly on a lttle trolley.

Gayle 09-11-2008 21:15

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

Yep, it was funny to a point but it's beyond the joke now.

There is the argument that if someone's going to win it doesn't matter what order the others go out in but there doesn't seem to be a clear winner this year.

garinda 09-11-2008 21:19

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

Unlike last year there isn't a clear favourite, and the scores at the top being so close, plus the way some are brilliant one week and pants the next, make it exciting.

John has to go, in the interest of fairness.

I agree, but he's clearly the worst by a mile. I felt really sorry for Heather tonight - she was better than Jodie and John and still got put out. If there was any fairness she wouldn't even have been in the dance off.

Gayle 09-11-2008 21:24

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

It also shows how anyone is vulnerable because Rachel was fourth from the judges she must have come last from the audience vote to have mathematically have been in the bottom two.

Well its definitely the Kate Garraway syndrome all over again, but having said that Kate was like Ginger Rogers compared with John. I think John is the worst dancer there has ever been since the start of the series 5 years ago, Skippy would have made a better contestant

It is not fair that the others are working so hard and John just doesn't seem to be that bothered. I think he should step down now, he knows he can't dance and the way things are going one of the good dancers is going to end up losing their place:mad:

They wont let him be voted off until the very last show, because he keeps people watching - they dont want to miss the show where he does get voted off

Lolly 10-11-2008 14:09

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

Although I do think its very unfair that John is still in, its happened twice before on Strictly, with both Julian Clarey & Chris Parker. Neither of them could dance for toffee yet they made it to the last two (in different series.)

Saying that though I dont think its going to happen this year. I'm sure he'll go next week. (Then again I said that this week! lol)

Well I'm not watching just so I don't miss the show where he gets voted off. This is one programme that I will not miss and never have done since it started. Think it is great television and should imagine a lot of other people feel the same. He just hasn't made any improvement in fact he looks like he doesn't care. It is horrible to see the ones who are really working hard being voted out whilst he stays in:(

Strictly 'world's most watched'

Strictly Come Dancing has spawned more international spin-offs than any other programme, according to new figures.

The BBC show's format has been sold to 38 countries, industry magazine Television Business International said.

The show is sold internationally as Dancing With The Stars to countries including Chile, India and Japan.

Very funny.

I've been giving this far too much thought, but let's face it what else is there to do on a Monday night other than argue with Garinda about the marketing demographics of local newspapers!

Anyway, I think Rachel was in the bottom two i.e. very few people voted for her, because she's too perfect. She's clearly very good dancer and she's beautiful, she works very hard but she doesn't show much emotion when she gets voted through. Looking at all the others, they all have 'something' that people can get behind and want to vote for.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

It makes no difference whether they give him 0 or more - he'll still be at the bottom of the leader board so will still get the 1pt, and because there are now only 8 people in the contest the leader will only get 8pts.

If he's bottom of the judges leader board he only needs to be about fourth or fifth with the viewers to give him enough points to rise above the others. The only way they could really protest would be to give everyone else 40 pts and him less so that they ALL got 8pts to start off with and he only got his 1pt. That way it would be impossible for him to be anywhere but in the dance off - then they could vote him off after that.

Not sure GC but I think it was something like £1 million a year and they wanted to drop it to about £100,000

Thank you to whichever controller decided not to have the show head to head with X Factor.

It used to get so complicated if you wanted to watch both shows.

Rachel's Rumba was very impressive, as was Austin's Tango.

Time for the underdog to visit the vets, and be put out of his, and our, misery.

Just one thing, how Rachel's boyfriend could sit in the audience an watch her dance with anther bloke like that is way beyond me. Read an interview with Bruno this morning, he said that it helps dancers to perform if they are sleeping together, but he didn't know if any of the contestants were doing it this year:rolleyes:

Just consider that the viewing public are extracting the urine from a programme which is well past its sell by date - then it is amusing don't you think?

Was watching BBC Breakfast this morning and Mandy was on, at the end of his interview he was asked if he would like to take part in Strictly. he said he would love to. I was just wondering who would be the best partner for him:confused: Anton, Brendon or Matthew:rolleyes:

Seems the powers that be at the BeeB are going to make sure this farce can't happen again. Next year they're going to introduce a new rule, anybody at the bottom of the leader board three weeks running will be disqualified, yippee:mosher:

John Sergeant has just announced he's pulling out of the show.

Oh, now I'm torn - I wanted him out but I don't think it's right that he should do this.

In all fairness, much as I didn't want him in I did accept that the rest of the voting public seemed to want to see him and so we all have to accept that decision.

I wonder what they'll do this week then as no one will be needed to do a dance off?

Exactly.

I don't think he should have quit.

He played the game by the rules, even if the judges didn't like it.

Hopefully the public would eventually have come to their senses as to the quality of his dancing, and if they didn't...so be it.

In a statement he said "I think I could just go on and win it, but that would have been beyond the joke" Think he's doing a final dance on Saturdays Show, wonder if anyone will be voted out his week?

As the money raised is going to children in need, they must have been raising a lot of money from the phone call for keeping John Sergeant in.
I expect that the people keeping John in will not be voting for anybody else. Therefore money lost for children in need. Surely it’s all about fun. He was being kept in because the voters wanted to be entertained.
There are rules. They should keep to them.

It said on the B.B.C. news you can claim your money back if you voted for John to stay.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

It has emerged that John Sergeant stepped down because he is due to go on a cruise. He never expected to stay in so long, puts a new slant on his pulling out and shows it was hardly a noble gesture on his part:(

Re: Strictly Come Dancing 2008

As some one who watched the program for the dancing I'm glad John has stood down. I was brought up watching Come Dancing back in the 50s and 60s when it was Victor Silvester and his slow, slow quick quick slow. I have one regret, which is, I never learnt to ballroom dance, once went to the Court School of Dancing, over Burton's, in Lord St. Blackburn, one Sunday night when I was in my teens, but it was a mitigated disaster and never went back. I actually went with another Accy Web member but I won't embrace him by telling you who he is, but if he reads this he'll remember:rolleyes:
