Gladiator....is one of my absolute faves. Not many may know...Ollie Reed didn't actually finish filming that film !!! His last few scenes were computer generated !!!

Where Eagles Dare is MY favourite film. Eastwood & Burton in an absolute classic of a war film !!!

My others include Cleopatra, Spartacus, Laurence of Arabia, Kelly's Heroes, Guns of Navarone, Bridge over the River Kwai, The Battle of Britain, The Longest Day,The Dambusters, A Bridge Too Far, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, The Deerhunter, Apocolypse Now, Black Hawk Down, Apollo 13, Close Encounters of the Third Kind & Knowing (Nic. Cage)

As that list shows, I'm partial to a good war film !!!:o

I had just got a pint in the Legion Hotel at Southport they announced the film was about to start in the lounge.
It was sometime in the early eighties when I last saw a film, it was "Soldier Blue" and I was parked up in Hull for the night.
Anyway I went to see what the film was about in the hotel and was enthralled through out.

It was "Life of Pi". They showed it from a blue ray disk with surround sound.
Really good filming and the young lad who played Pi was excellent at it.
I enjoyed it so much I didn't leave for another pint until the film ended.

I liked "Life of Pi" too - beautiful and thought provoking!

Watched it in the 70's, remembered it as pretty horrific and gruesome, e.g. the tobacco pouch...watched it not too long ago on one of the cruddy movies for men channels, guess I've been hardened by movies since, it was dated didn't have the same punch or stand the test of time (except for the haunting voice of Buffy St Marie )..trust me...stick with your memory and dont watch it again

Watched "Soldier Blue" in Norwich at the opening of the new Odeon there, '70 or a bit earler. The graphics were a new generation - the opening, where the bullet strikes the soldiers cheek had my wife cringing.
A great film and the theme song is still one of my favourites.

It has been on TV several times in late 90's and or early 2000's!

Watched Where Eagles Dare last night Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood, never get tired of watching these very well made war films, it was on ITV4 at 8pm so I recorded it on plus then started watching it at 9pm so I could flick the ads:rolleyes:

Time flies, I was guessing when I said early eighties, I didn't think the film had been out long when I saw it so it must have been in the 70's I started on a BP contract at Hull in 1977 so it was after that.

Not that it really matters, it was still the last film I saw before Life of Pi in July this year.
