AccyWeb Radio

Having a day off today, I thought I'd tinker with something I've never tinkered with. Streaming radio over the t'interweb.
I don't know about you lot but I think it could be quite good fun. Currently it is playing from my computer, but it could be from any of our members.
Anybody fancy DJ'ing for accyweb?

Anyone can have a go with free software (have a search for shoutcast).

Send me a PM if you want to be an accyweb DJ, you don't even have to speak if you don't want to. Just play some tunes for a few hours, during the day or evening or anytime...

Love the idea and works well. Bring up the obvious however...broadcasting music, copyright, legals etc anyone ? Dont want anyone to get into trouble

Yes, I looked into that... It seems its a terribly gray area. No-one really knows what to do with someone streaming from a US server into the UK......

Looked into it even more, and am filling in an application form now for PRS. It's not to expensive actually.

Thats because we are not broadcasting right now... I am trying to organise different people to do different times.. For a bit of variety.

If your on windows it is something to do with winamp, although I don't know how to do it in windows. Google for shoutcast dj'ing windows software and you should be able to find something. I'm on a mac and using NiceCast(broadcaster) along with MegaSeg(DJ music player thing). After your set up and ready to broadcast I would give you the DJ password and server details and then you are on-air.

next to the play arrow there is a white box, press that

No pop-ups .. just the thingy in the tool bar and no white box ? Pressing the play logo, but still nothing that says stop ... gonna' have to log out I guess to get rid.

Yeh, thanks, have just done that and come back .. phew ...peace .. back to smooth fm .. need it. Just not working for me for some reason. Cannot find the stop button at all (no comments please .. LOL) .. x

Katex if you look right at the bottom of your screen , it will say " accyweb radio " if you click on that , that will bring up a popup for you to stop

It's very cool to think I'm over here listening to the same stuff , at the same time as me Accy mates. Just finished a headbanging song by Nickleback, thinking this is some neat stuff . . . .

However, this was followed by that infernally hated wedding dancing chicken song, please wait while I turn this one down and wait for some Accyweb DJ redemption . . . LOL

If you are a windows user and having problems with the radio try downloading and installing VideoLan VLC For Windows. Close your browsers when installing and select the options below if they are available to you

It would be kinda neat to know who may or may not be DJing at any given moment. We could even have a "rate the DJ" poll. I think it would be interesting to see the vast variety of music tastes Accywebbers have.

In fact, have we recently had any polling as to what are the music choices here? Blues, Rock, Hair, Metal, Contemporary Christian (had to throw in my first choice), 60's, 70's, etc., etc.
