Cazzer, you're cracking me up!! :D :D

It is hard work, but he says he'll STICK it out while he can. Sleeps like a LOG at nights though, after he's drunk his NESTlé hot chocolate!

I walk in the churchyard of the church in question every morning with my dog.......as far as I am concerned it would be a terrible shame to fell such a beautiful tree......... :-X  :'(  :'(  :'(

We need to be loking after our trees NOT chopping them down.

I agree it is a shame to see beautiful trees disappear.
The tree in question has been there almost as long as the Church, and is apparently subject to a preservation order, so I doubt the council are making this decision lightly.

Safety has to be the paramount issue here, especially as it is a conker tree and a magnet to children.

Plus as Owd Bert says:
"remember that we are now in an era of litigation"

If the tree as become a danger, then Iam sure the tree wont mind haveing to go. All living things must come to an end sometime. I do hope they are going to plant a new tree in it's place though.

Hopefully they will.

It seems the ashes of a former Vicar, and also his 2 children who died in a car crash, are buried at that spot.

This young girl was my brother best friend at school.  She fell from the tree right on her head, had a kidney removed and can't eat, talk a little bit and hopefully is inproving everyday.

My brother is distraut, his class mates made a tape for her and he is not on it as he has just been on holiday to Majorca.  It really has hit him hard!  :'(

Hi, the Council were in the churchyard today, felling the tree.  I asked the guy was the whole tree going and he said yes, but.. they have gone, swept up I must add!!!!! and left part of it still standing.  Whether or not they will be back tomorrow to finish off, je ne sais pas!
What a shame
