I always do a Sunday Roast......Beef or Pork...and very occasionally Lamb.......I don't often do lamb because I can't eat it.....but that is no hardship as I don't like it anyway.

well i finally got up and the chickens gone in the oven ... dont know what im having with it yet ... havent decided .. but the chickens in .. will be ready eventually ..:D:D:D

we are having peppery chicken, cauliflower cheese, green beans and carrots :D

Always eat a roast dinner but it is cooked for me(don't see much point doing a roast for one). Anyway today we had roast beef, yourshire puds, mash and roast spuds, carrots, cauliflower, brocolli, peas and gravy. Followed by apple pie and cream, thanks Mum

for years and years I hated them,
then I started working in teh restaurant trade and found that actually I just hated well done meat. Give me a bloody rare roast of Sirloin and I'll scoff teh lot! Chicken I quite like but needs flavour adding with herbs etc. Pork must have good crackling but then must still be juicy. lamb I don't mind but its Julies favourite. I can decide if I prefer it quick and rare or very long and slow cooked. now I quite like a roast dinner but only if I've done it and I know its too my liking. |

It was too hot to cook today.
I had Parma ham with melon and watercress, accompanied by chunks of home made brioche dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I juiced 3 apples and a pear as an appetiser. All light food - but all organic - when you don't eat much it needs to be good stuff with no 'packing'. |

Despite living with 2 non-meat eaters (younger daughter and granddaughter) I do enjoy a roast. No longer working I don't, necessarily, have it on a Sunday. Every now and then, though, I invite my older children over and make a good old fashioned Sunday Dinner, on a Sunday, following it up with, perhaps, an apple or rhubarb crumble made from home grown fruit or one of my famous rice puddings (thick, sweet, creamy and covered in a brown nutmeg "cartsheet".) I really love cooking. :)
I love lamb but I also like beef, which must be rare, and pork, which must be moist and have plenty of crackling. Chicken/turkey is OK if it's not too dry and all my meats must have plenty of gravy. I always do crisp roast potatoes, carrots which I caramelise for preference, with perhaps roast parsnips and a green veg - peas or cabbage (properly cooked cabbage is delicious) - or broccoli and often leeks in white sauce or cauliflower cheese. Chicken must have bread sauce and lamb must have mint sauce. Yorkshire puddings go with everything. As it's sometimes a bit of a drag to make all that just for me - I cheat! Two country pub/restaurants within a mile of my house both do excellent carveries so I'm not averse to nipping to the Crown or the Manor for a delicious meal, very economically priced and someone else clears it away. :D |

Well that's the first time i have done a cake that big and it turned out beautiful even though i do say so myself (with a tummy full of cake:D)

had roast pork loin..very lean and not to dry...green cabbage and carrots cooked then tossed in butter, roast spuds, croquettes and yorkshire pudding..very nice washed down with a bottle of Zinfandel, 3 cans of stella and large bottle of cider! :mosher:
