Maybe the forum rules need updating because linking to a smilie is still against the rules. The other problem with linking an image is that the owner of the image you linked could change it to something not suitable for this forum and then we would have unsuitable or advertising images on the site.

I think we've been here before, Yes it is still against the rules, but back when that rule was made everyone had dial up modems and providers had small servers, they often said not to link to their sites as it restricted their band width, however most of the servers now are quite large and fast and the sites often say linking is permitted, (though it is always best to check, it will be on their site somewhere). Plus back then our own servers were small and slow and too many smileys would slow that down.

:)

Unfortunately the rules don't always fit very well. Look at this rule, how would you comply if you linked to an image on your site? :D

18: All links posted on site must have a description attached to it to explain what the link is about. or the post can/will be deleted as spam.
If your linking to your own site please remember to put a link on your site back to Accyweb (this is Internet courtesy and etiquette)
you must ask a member of staff before you link to your own site first
You can not start a thread with just a link

9: Please try to avoid using too many posts containing just similes, as these can become irritating after a while, especially if there are several one after the other.

A lot of them do get deleted when we spot them, makes it awkward though when people have commented on the link and deleting the post will make less sense than his post did anyway ( that goes with any members post not just his )

Is that a tongue in cheek comment? We could do with a smiley for that.

O.K. Let him stop you using this method, upload the smiley to AccringtonWebs Gallery You can make your own album for this.

Then link to your smiley from there, you are then using our servers to link to our website and perhaps he will leave you alone?

In the dark distant days of IRC and mIRC there used to be a default point and click action to show boredom/mild disapproval or disgust.:)
e.g “Susie slaps DtheP47 with a wet fish”

Get working on it Wizz, people would pay cash money for that facility on here.
;)

Think I need some practice first, it's a long while since my family owned a business on the fish market.

Searching and adding your own is a great deal of enjoyment anyway.
If you notice the one I put on my post wasn't placed as a picture and there are lots of bright ideas out there.

I agree-was just illustrating what I thought he was asking for. Maybe if the smilies list was updated once a year with requests considered, or something?
It's not something I personally want, though.

Or as a reward for the best nation in the world (DO-Nation)..:D
