Re: Smilies

Thanks for all the replies, I did get it to work by setting up an album as suggested (always good to learn something new), but it all seems like a lot of hassle just to put a different smiley on a post. Would have liked just a one or two click solution but hey-ho:D:thumbsup:

Wouldn't call it distant since irc is still well used :)

Re: Smilies

Ok I have added a Rule to the site

18a: Linking to a site to use smiles if slightly different and will be allowed.
you can link to a site to put the odd smiley in a post

A couple of things to remember
Do not just post a smiley in a post on its own or this will be deleted, there must be text in the post too
Do not use to many smiles in your posts or they will be deleted at the discretion of the mods
DO NOT use a site called "smiley central"

we have had a lot of trouble with using this site when you link to a smiley unknown to you as you cant see it but other members can it also puts a big advertising banner on site each time you post a smiley
you can try this site which has some good ones
http://www.tiptopglobe.com

Just while we are on the subject of site rules here is a link to the rest of the site rules

Re: Smilies

I have never seen a penguin smiley used here - and the banana ones, very rarely.

Can the list be pruned - and maybe some new ones added?

I agree Margaret can't ever remember the penguins being used not even once

Perhaps if you send Roy an email or P.M. he will drop everything and attend to your needs?

Or maybe he could make you an Honorary Super Admin and you can spend all your spare time dedicated to altering the site to suit every members little whims?

Or maybe, just maybe, you and Jay could just put up with it until the next time he gets around to it?

Maybe if the smilies list was updated once a year with requests considered, or something?

Or as a reward for the best nation in the world (DO-Nation)..:D

Everyone`a winner with this idea:)

Sorry Less, we posted at same time, and perhaps we`re being a little ungrateful, we`ve got what we want, the ability to post smilies not available on here, thanks.

Well, you have already said you can't be bothered to look off site for emoticons, it's not exactly difficult to do, but like a typical Tory you will agree with anything that means someone else has to do the work you don't want to do.

Searching for the smilie that suits exactly, what you intend to post can be fun and the choices out there mean AccyWebs small list of examples can be ignored, by those that make the effort and the results can be most effective, so the solution is in your own hands, you don't need to worry about penguins and bananas.
Though as a couple of Roy's catch phrases include the terms Penguins & Bananas perhaps he can be allowed a little self indulgence?

Thumbnails, fingernails, teeth and a venomous tongue, these are some of the tools you have used in the past, but, still the world survives.
