Sorry but do we yet know what they are trying to do, if anything?

"Various materials" flowers and benches just about sums it up. Don't ask me what "various materilas" means because I haven't a clue. That was HBC-speak.

I've seen more working in a Beechams Pill.......they are as slow as a Gods Horse.
Went down this am.......two fellas leaning on shovels having a fag......that's a job and a half.

What's a "God's horse"? That's an expression I've never heard before.

Apparently there are also "four or more poplar type trees" involved in it somewhere.

Four or more? Would that be five or twenty seven or three humdred and sixty one?

We [the barricaded retailers] have been told it involves totally resurfacing Broadway;provision of new lamp post, benches, planters, bins etc. It is scheduled to be finished by October.Stainless steel was mentioned for some of the street furniture.

To be honest we have seen very little progress;due to the fact that there only appears to be 2 blokes on "the job" . And once again our takings have plummetted because no-one can actually get past our store and that of Poundland.I am grateful that they are doing our stretch first,at least it's Accy hols and traditionally quiet anyway! Will see what happens when they do the bit upto the front of the store;that is supposed to be done outside trading hours.... hmmm.;)

Re: work has started

Why not ask HBC for some "compen" for the loss of takings over the period of the contract:)

Will be watching the figures very carefully over the next few weeks and photos are off to head office tomorrow! We were told there would be a thoroughfare thru from the Arndale entrance to our side of Broadway but that doesn't seem to have happened! Grrr.

They'll be meaning that part where the army were parked the other day.

It’s been two or three weeks since work started on Broadway. I did some shopping this afternoon and I can’t say much work as been done since the start. Have I missed something or is it a case that only a few slabs and a few inches of tarmac as been shifted? I did notice some edging going down but come on, you’d think that they’d carry out an archaeological survey its been that slow?
