Re: time/tiny/granville computers to close down?

well i thought you might like an update on where im at at the moment with trying to get my money back for the plasma tv that i was ripped off with from tiny.

Well i contacted them around 20 times and i wrote to them and they rang me and i wrote to them again because they said i had not worded the letter right, and i asked the bank to do what is called a "chargeback" where they retrieve the money back from the account and they said no we wont do that, i got intouch with trading standards nothing from them i got intouch with the MP but he just passed the book so i have basically been waiting to hear back from time/tiny and i wrote them a 3rd letter because they convieniently didnt receive the 2nd one and the other day i received the letter telling us we will get nothing!

Its like banging my head against a brick wall just harder everytime we get a knock back. So i am now on my last chance of ever seeing my £1399 back, I am just about to write to the financial ombudsman who have the power to get me my money back from the bank it is all down to them now.

So wish me luck i really need it on this one.

Its absolutely criminal what they have done.

It was in the paper last week that the Directors of this company are subject to an investigation by the Department of Trade and Industry.......apparently they have discovered that huge amounts of stock were 'spirited away'(allegedly) just before the company went bust.

It's appalling that they carried on taking money when they knew they couldn't come up with the goods.

I do hope the ombudsman can help you Mummiboo but like Cashman says don't hold your breath because if there aren't any assetts then there's no way to get money fom them.

It must be sickening to know they got so much money off you and you have nothing to show for it.

Re: time/tiny/granville computers to close down?

Typical a business goes under and the public suffer for it. The directors proberly made the stuff vanish so they a least get payed. Then again if the employees if they were not paid they might have done the same. I am not condoning any of it but a DTI investigation will take a while and will proberly get nothing worth anything for those customers that were ripped off.

Re: time/tiny/granville computers to close down?

You are all right there is nothing left for the customers, and there is to be an investigation and the directors all resigned so to keep themselves on par(if you will) the owners of the company still have there nice house and nice clothes and nice cars and all their money stashed away in their wifes bank accounts and the staff have now all had their redundency pay and the people who paid by credit card mainly have their money back. The only people who are now suffering is the people like me who were daft enough to pay by debit card/cash. The financial ombudsman have the power to get my money back from the bank not the company like credit card customers can get theirs back the bank can do what is called a chargeback, as a consumer it is my right to ask the bank to do that which i did and the lovely people at our bank shook their heads and said no ( because they are so helpful at Natwest even though other people are getting the help from their banks!! So thats where the financial ombudsman comes in they have the power to get that decision overturned, normaly the financial ombudsman only deals with credit cards but they have been asked to look into the time/tiny/granville cases with debit cards.

so you see that is why the financial ombudsman is my last chance, i wont give up until i am defeated but dont worry i am not holding my breath its like you said if i expect nothing and then gain from it then its better than expecting something and getting nothing.

Thank you all you are all wonderful x

Best of luck Mummiboo. I can imagine how I would be feeling, somebody's head should roll for this.

Dont give up mummiboo sounds like ombudsman is the only way to go and goes to prove the shiftiness side of liquidation & even though they are bankrupt thay can start up another business no doubt through wife or mate, seems they get a better deal than ordinary folk:(

Re: time/tiny/granville computers to close down?

You need to bear in mind though that even if the Ombudman finds in your favour, you may not see the money.

It's a case of get in line with all the other creditors, I'm afraid. And I am pretty sure that the Inland Revenue is one of them. Guess who is at the front of the queue?
