Yes it was dispensed at the vets too... When I looked at the tablets they looked exactly the same as human Brufen and were the same dosage so I took em. :D

Don't get me started on this subject. I get really frustrated by the number of products that are exactly the same inside but have a range of different packaging to sell to different people. I've worked in pharmaceuticals and it's really common. Or, like the kitchen/bathroom/multipurpose cleaners that are all the exact same stuff inside the bottles. Or like own brand stuff that is identical to the branded stuff - I always go for own brand products when I know that.

Apart from the obvious, why should we take any notice of sell by dates. One advert for Volvic mineral water stated it takes 2000 years to filter through layers of volcanic ash and rock . So why does that have a sell by date? Wouldnt it already be out of date?

Can't beat the whoops counter at Asda which has (usually) meat that should be eaten that day. Have had beer way past the sell/use by date, still tastes the same. I only usually use the use by dates as a guide.

Of course there is the other reason for the increased use of "Use By" dates... to encourage that section of the population who are unable to think for themselves to disgard perfectly good food and run along to the supermarket to buy more to replace it. It's a bit like the concept of "built in obsolecence" which you find in so many "white" goods these days - irreplacable components which are designed to fail after a certain amount of usage.
