Re: Petrol Crisis?

What or the chances of the price becoming lower than 80p a litre in the next few weeks? If this carries on car manufactures will not be able to sell large engined cars because nobody could afford to run them. Then the govenment would have a BIG problem on their hands.

Maybe not on petrol Spuggie, I do over 30K a year in a 200+BHP 2.5 Turbo car. It does the equivilant of over 60 mpg sat at motorway speeds. Oh and its not a diesel either.

Your about 30 year's too young for a Volvo V70 :D

You see Neil, you are falling in the usual trap, they are sooooo kewl we keep it a secret or you would all be buying them and they would become uncool again.

Doh! I've just given it away :)

Love that site Ian. I was thinking I fancied a drop or two of the 50 RON until I noticed the forthcoming opportunity to purchase anti-matter. Now a tiny drop of that would probaby keep us going all year.

Hey crystals? I've already got plenty of those. How do I adapt the car to run on them? :D

Re: Petrol Crisis?

Just stick them in your tank and the aura will take over. :)

Re: Petrol Crisis?

I could think of somewere else they could increase the aura. Mind you if 60mpg is possible from 2.5 200 motor that is turbo charged then people would be buying them bigstyle.:D

Re: Petrol Crisis?

You are welcome to look at mine. ( Volvo v70 2.5 Turbo, mapped to take account of the higher octance of LPG(110 RON)). I was thinking of putting a RICA chip on there. That would take it to 265BHP and they claim it doesn't affect cruising MPG, only when you floor it :)

LPG, 35p/litre returning 23mpg on gas(sat at motorway speeds and I don't mean 70 :) ), Petrol at 95p/litre makes an equivilance of (95/35*23) 62.43MPG.

Re: Petrol Crisis?

Now that is what I call a set of figures. Its a pity that there are not more garages that do LPG as I only know of 5 in my area and 2 of them are a stones throw from the refinery.

LPG was very big when I worked in Holland but wasn't there something about being rear ended, something about explosions and fire.

Re: Petrol Crisis?

I wonder how long the tax break will last on LPG. When it gets more popular you can see the price going up can't you. A bit like the price of diesel went up when everyone bought diesel cars.

SPUGGIE J 16-09-2005 15:39

Re: Petrol Crisis?

I agree with Neil as soon as LPG becomes a serious contender to other fuels the tax will rise. The govenment would do it as LPG would no longer be a minority fad but something that could fill the coffers. Oh the law of economics.
