Re: Whale in london?!

Surely if this whale is trying to get to land to die in peace then people trying to get it to go back out to sea are really being very cruel. Maybe it's just best not to interfere with nature.

It’s very distressing actually; more should have been done sooner. This was allowed to become a spectacle in the early stages instead of a rescue attempt. Needless waist……

Totally argree Tinks and doug....................surely a lot earlier a barge could have strapped this whale against its side and towed it out to open water....... where the other whales(most likely distressed family members) could have looked after there own :(:(

SAD does not cover it

Re: Whale in london?!

it cost £50k to move this whale, now its us that foot the bill - is this a needless waste of money given that it could have been put to better use....?
or is it justified ?
like I have already stated - whales apparently beach themselves in preperation to die, some guy was on tv & radio also stating this so if these people know this (may) be the case why go and move it ??
let it be and let nature take its course and let the £50k be put to better use...?
our local council bangs on about how it has no money to spend...and you wonder why..??

I agree the poor creature should have been left alone. It has been noted that it was injured, otherwise why would it have made its way up the Thames? A healthy whale just wouldn't do that. While I appreciate that everyone was trying to help it, it would have been kinder to leave it alone and give it respite and dignity in its last hours.

Poor whale, I hope it realised that people just cared.

whilst its a shame i love animals etc i agree with those who said its what they do when they are ready to croak- it should have been left to nature, what really gobsmacked me was a report of a woman in southend who said (quote) i didn't realise something like this could affect me so much. i am going to get more involved in these things in future to --- make sure it never happens again! now excuse me but short of damming the thames estuary -HOW???? the hell can you- talk about melodramatic people.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

One of the 'experts' did say that any whale found in our rivers belongs to the Queen, is she going to wake up with a suprise on her doorstep tomorrow?
