Whale in london?!
Seems very strange but its very true!
Theres a whale swimming about in the river thames. Experts believe its a bottlenose whale and that its only a baby. Ive been watching it on the news and at one point it was swimming to close to the shore and almost beached itself, there was a bit of red in the water that looked like blood coming from its tail but other than that its swimming around happily. http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0...209846,00.html have a look! |
Re: Whale in london?!
Heard it on Jo Whiley on Radio 1 this morning and thought it was a wind up!!

Re: Whale in london?!
It should be OK providing they keep the Japanese tourists off the pleasure boats. Otherwise the poor little thing might end up getting harpooned.
|
Re: Whale in london?!
thats just the thing they have been letting the tourist boat follow it!! it could get distressed!

Re: Whale in london?!
Funny how things change, isn't it? A hundred years or so ago it would, by now, have been made into soap, corsets and pies!
Anyway I wish it well, I like whales. In general they have more sense than some humans. ;) |
Re: Whale in london?!
Heard it on the evening news, apparantly there is another one as well now.
|
Re: Whale in london?!
it said that people are now getting scared.....
|
Re: Whale in london?!
Things don't look too good for this poor whale.....it has become tired and distressed and it is feared that it will not survive.
|
Re: Whale in london?!
I had a really good look when the news was on, I didn't recognise it Rind ....... you? ;) :D
Seriously it's awful to see an animal in such distress. Will it always be one of lifes little mysteries as to the reason why they do this? I hope it survives, they were hoping it would go out on the tide. |
Re: Whale in london?!
I am pretty certain that the real reason whales beach themselves is to die - they know they are going to die and head for the shore, beach themsleves and wait for nature to take it course..all sad but I am sure its true...

Why would you have small pods of them trying to beach themselves though? Surely they aren't intelligent enough for suicide pacts? |
Re: Whale in london?!
Is that why people keep trying to shove me in the sea when I am on my holiday :(
