Huh? No, I was referring to this link of yours which says the scheme has been scrapped.

Sorry Willow that is my fault, with the comment below I said to slinky "Oh right, end of that! Just because it's been scrapped does that mean it can't be discussed now"

Take the European attitude to jails. It must be bad in some places that those 2 idiots arrested for air rage jumped bail because they cant face doing time in Greek prison might being that it may be a tad too hard and rough for these hard men! Money is wasted on silly ideas and so called re-education but at the end of the day it aint working. Short sharp shock is required.

It was a waste of money I agree when it didn't even get off the ground. I still think it might be more of a deterrant to give people weekend sentences (rather than fine them and then they don't necessarily pay the fine) for some minor offences. It would probably be too expensive to set up special 'weekend jails' to deal with it though.
