Accrington Style
Looking down from my lofty perch, I often wonder about the lack of mirrors in Accrington.
As I look at the masses of tracksuited people, white socks peek a booing, cheap gold plated jewellery glinting in the sun, baseball caps perched jauntily on the top of their heads, I wonder did they really look at themselves before leaving the house? Do they really think they look good or stylish or even anything less than sub-human. I know that the culture of MTV has made role models of rappers from the ghetto, but they have had success and drive Bentleys and Aston Martins while their Lancastrian counterparts ride around on childrens BMX bikes. Thank goodness as a youth I may have had role models, heroes even, but I did`nt dress like them..... excepting early Midge Ure!:D |
Re: Accrington Style
Pmsl i think the only time they realise is when they get older & look back at their old photos or reminise of the time, i do laugh & joke to teens being slaves to fashion & the peerage, im glad my parents did stop my attempts at some fashion disasters of the 80's otherwise i'd be burning more piccys now:D
Even better they didnt have camcorders at the ready them days either hehehehe the fun im going to have when mine get older cringe time for them hehehe:D |

Re: Accrington Style
What ever happened to individuality (big word for this time of day) of a persons dress. Thay hate school uniforms because they all look the same but by the weekend they are in their other uniform.

Re: Accrington Style
The mention of Midge Ure as made all your observations about other people's style obsolete.:(:D

Re: Accrington Style
OMG those days!!!! I loved my youth, but looking back when i spent a week on hoddlesden moor at the rock concert in an afghan coat and afghan boots and floppy hat i think id die if my daughter walked in looking like that haha, no pics tho thankfully... but just got me thinking of my best mate who came from a very well to do family an all that ,, was a punk rocker with purple hair and used to pinch her dads shirts and rip the sleeves off, she is now a school teacher .. maybe some of those today will come good and look back at themselves with the shock that we do, ah the love of fashion..
