Bear in mind that many of these practitioners will work part time, many more registrants do not practice at all due to inability to get a job. If you have no practical experience as a qualified nurse or midwife then you become ineligable to re-register.

Everyone who works within the NHS knows that these figures have been manipulated beyond all truth.

Figures have been manipulated since day one though!

I've pulled this off Labour's website

• Britain now has the lowest inflation for thirty years and the lowest mortgage rates for forty years - saving homeowners an average of £3,700 a year compared to the Tory years. We have the longest period of sustained growth for 200 years.
• The number of people in work is at a record level, up by over 2 million since 1997.
• Over 1.5 million working people are better off thanks to the National Minimum Wage.
• Hospital waiting lists in England are at their lowest since 1987.
• In the NHS there are 19,300 more doctors and over 77,500 more nurses working with modern equipment, giving faster access to more people, all free at the point of need.
• Standards are up across the board including the best ever primary school results. More teachers are in our schools than at any point in last 20 years - 28,500 more than in 1997.
• Police numbers are at record levels - up over 12,500 since 1997, and are assisted by over 4,000 new Community Support Officers.

People who believe in the Labour party will read this with interest, people who are opposed to the Labour party will think it's all spin and lies.

You mean Labour are`nt putting all their cock-ups and failed policies on their website, that does surprise me!!!

By the way with all this talk of Triumphal Tony what about his cabinet, policy advisors, whips, spin doctors and Google Page Ranking people, party activists and grass roots supporters, are they all going to go on Blue Peter. If so I will not be renewing my TV licence!:D

It sounds wonderful if you belive Labour's version but living with the reality it just doesn't seem to match up. Or am I getting cynical?

The problem is that your reality is in a Conservative controlled council area. A lot of the stuff that you're blaming on Blair is local stuff that you should really be blaming on your council and yet you keep voting them back in.

Ah the great British disease, build a person up then knock him down bit by bit. Conservative or Labor Tony was the best thing since sliced bread, then he upset the Sun and then the Mirror, (the Mail and Express don't count they hate everybody whose not a white middle-class male,) so off with his head, then they realised who can replace him, oh yeah the baldy guy he seem good, opps mistake, ok lets try the big fat Yorkshire bloke we'll back him, Sh*t that was bad, ok lets stick with Tone for now, oh look someone else whos hasn't got any charisma but hes got a cool name that will get us the Jock vote and he spent almost seven years at Carlton Communications plc, one of the UK's leading media companies, so he will love the press. So everyone will vote for whoever the press tell you and you will stand in the pub and the Sun reader will tell you how Labor it is and so will the Mirror, the Telegraph reader will say how the Conservatives will sort it all out in about a month, but in reality no difference between either party because they won't do what they promise, they will put up taxes, they will put the price of everyday things and blame it on the other party, they will not pull out of iraq and that also will be the other parties fault and in 4 years time we will be on here saying how bad Cameron or who ever got in is, Viva the revolution.:)

Or the Labour controlled county council. Swings/roundabouts

By the way, have we passed the five economic tests to join the Euro yet?

Having lived through the Tory years, and then nearly ten years of a Labour government, I know which I prefered, even if it isn't the Utopia we were promised.

I'm afraid this is where you must bow down to age young Cyfr.

The late seventies, and early to mid eighties, were a dark, dark place.

Strikes, riots, unemployment at over three million, and inflation racing faster than they were digging the Channel tunnel.

The whole country still seemed dark and dirty.
