Thats true, but who sorted the miners strikes out? There were no blackouts during their strike when Thatcher was in power because she stockpiled coal. The Unions had Labour by the throat.

There was huge unemployment, I can't say she did it in the best of ways, but needless to say it had to be done. I believe she built firm foundations that Blair built upon.

He could be a right brat and hold an early general election to let the people decide on who is running the country. That would put a spanner in the works of a few in the Labour party. It seems that if a PM has been around for a decade or so they are to be hunted out of office wether they choose to go or not. They did it to Thatcher now Blair though he cant make his mind up weter to stay or quit. All this infighting benifits no-one because infighting means they cant consentrate on the job at hand.

The Tories can't have been that bright though. If you are right Cyfr and the New Labour government benefited from their prudent policies that the Conservatives implemented, why did the electorate vote them out and Labour in, by such a massive, historic majority.

Surely someone in the Tory think tank in Smith Square would have told them that voters are fickle.;)

What an absolute load of tosh!

She not only crushed the miners in a most heartless manner but destroyed an industry that could have kept us as a country going in fuel for hundreds more years, now alot of those coal fields lie abandoned and will never be able to be re-opened.

History will show that she wasted our Childrens futures just so she could beat the unions.

The one thing that amuses me about the whole Blair/Brown issue is that replacing Blair with Brown is like replacing Kermet with Gonzo, they are both a pair self serving Muppets

Dosnt matter who wins because the caos its causing will cost them the next election. If they cant keep their own house in order what chance is there of keeping the country in working order?

It doesn't matter if Blair goes...it doesn't matter if Brown replaces him...it doesn't matter if Cameron wins the next election. Within 10-20 years we will simply be a province of the United States of Europe, so all this is irrelevant anyway.

In defence of the Conservatives, at least they kept to their ideal of a free market economy, and raised money via cash for questions as well.:D

I think it would be nice for Graham & Greg to give us their opinions on this matter. Don't you?

I've been pretty disgusted by the actions of some of my colleagues this week, and I think that this in-fighting is letting us all down. Tony has said that he is not going to go on and on, that he will stand down sometime next year (probably before the summer around the 10th anniversary), and that seems reasonable to me. He has served our country well and I guess that history will be kinder to him than many current commentators. And to those who think that Labour will be better off without TB, try asking a Tory MP in private who is the only leader they really fear - they will be cracking open the champagne when he retires!

It's a strange phenomenon of the British public how we seem to relish pulling people to shreds, especially those in the public eye or prominent positions.

Thank you for your views Greg.
