Actually, I think that was a name hung on the culture by archaeologists. Probably, like many primitive cultures, they called themselves something like "the people" and anyone else, "the others" or "barbarians." Tribal groups tend to have an us-and-them mentality.
I do get a funny mental image, complete with audio, when I think of a tribe of folks like the Muppet Beaker! |
