Don't stop anyone complaining spuggie.. I'm sure the original Beaker people complained when the Celts turned up sacking/raping mudering and other such inconveniences.

Some of us aren't so much complaining as being complained against ;)

We're all supposedly descended from that one woman in Africa anyway so who ever was here first didn't start off here.

Apparently, a woman the scientists have named Elizabeth, which is a nice name....for a black woman!:D

So we are all brothers (and sisters) under the skin.

Can't say I have much sympathy with a tribe calling themselves beaker people,
its not really a name that conjures up images of a savage warlike tribe thats
likely to put off any marauding Celts.
They sound like a right pushover, almost as bad as calling yourelves the teapot people.

Wasn't "Beaker" a character on the Muppet Show?

Wonder if they were predominantly living in Staffordshire? :p

The only trace or clue we have was the pottery they made. Hence "beaker people"

Actually, I think that was a name hung on the culture by archaeologists. Probably, like many primitive cultures, they called themselves something like "the people" and anyone else, "the others" or "barbarians." Tribal groups tend to have an us-and-them mentality.

I do get a funny mental image, complete with audio, when I think of a tribe of folks like the Muppet Beaker!
