Re: Christmas !!!!!!!
What a interesting and very topical post Kezia.
I usually put my tree up around the second weekend of December, depending if i've had chance to go and get it. If not it would be the following week. What i would really like for Christmas is to spend the day with my family, which includes my sister's family and my father. As for Christmas shopping, started earlier on in September, bought two presents then stopped. Can't get motivated to do anymore. |
Re: Christmas !!!!!!!
No tree in my house until a couple of days before Christmas. What's the point of it before then?
I don't do much Christmas shopping. Everyone gets a gift but I won't do the "commercial" stuff, to me that's not what Christmas is about. I love to have all my family around, usually on Boxing Day, but I wouldn't give a damn if they didn't buy me anything. A meal together and the pleasure of each other's company is worth far more than anything material. |

Re: Christmas !!!!!!!
Sometime after Friday's post, the site got hacked. Good grief! Is nothing sacred? Anyway, whatever I wrote on this subject appears to have gone into the ether. Ah, well, what's new about that?
Main point I was making, though.....a bullseyebarb Christmas is sans commercialism. Oh, sure, when you have young children in the household, Father Christmas is going to put in an appearance. But after that, why? The bullseyebarb Christmas consists of heading out into the forest to gather fresh greenery and berries. Decorations, (which begin to appear around the end of November), consist of candles, Nativities and an extensive collection of miniature Victorian buildings and figurines. Our own little town, (illuminated), - with frozen pond for ice-skating under a full moon. A nice log fire if it gets cold enough. But no gift buying. People don't know how we get away with this.....but, boy, are they envious. |

Re: Christmas !!!!!!!
This year the tree & trimmings will be going up after the plumber has fitted the new bathroom suite. No we dont put them up in the bathroom, its we want one job out of the way before we start another.Unfortunately the way the job keeps getting put back it could be new year before we get them up:mad: I think the new suite will be our big pressie from Santa(if it comes in time) and we'll be putting small gifts for each other under the tree:)
