What the hell makes these ***** think they are hard men and that pensioners have loads of money stashed about the house? Glad she is fine if somewhat shocked. Even if the scum is caught she will always remember it and have a lingering doubt if she is really safe.

I hope the lady who suffered this frifghtening crime is feeling better, and doesn't let these scumbags spoil her independance.

Well they have caught the offender thanks to science.

He is awaiting magistrates in the morning who will probably reffer to crown court, who knows what he will get.

Just read the report in the Observer Mr. D. and she looks a lovely lady and comments how well her grandaughters have been looking after her over Christmas. The Lions have also given her a neck pendant that calls the calling centre should she have any further trouble.

Anyway, seems this b4stard lives on the same street and is called COLIN HALSTEAD. He at least has had the decency to plead guilty.

Looks like he is going down as well, sentencing at crown court.

Depends on his record. Problem is that he has only pleaded guilty to burglary. Frightening an old lady in her bed in the middle of the night doesn't seem to be a criminal offence

Hopefully he will has an extensive record and will go down for a few years

They caught him. Excellent! Please update when a sentence is handed down. Hope it's not a slap on the wrist.

Didn't say Willow (unusually !) .. but all will be revealed. Colin isn't a name you would have given to anybody under 30 though, is it ??

Think, as Lancsdave mentioned, probably not taken into account that he could have frightened an elderly lady, (and thank goodness no consequences), is not taken into consideration. I think it should be taken into consideration if burglars go into a property knowing someone is there, and high risk of confrontation and possible attack on the victim when challenged.

Re: I Am Very Very Angry

I suspect if he didn't have previous he wouldn't be up for sentencing at Crown Court for a first time burglary offence.

you suspect wrong dave unless the law has changed with a Burgalry charge the magistrates usually say they havent enough power to sentence them (used to be 6months max) so they remand them to the crown/sessions etc for trail irrelavant of wether they have previous or not, the upside of that is the turds more chance of getting a lagging cos as hes pleading guilty theres no jury to con its just down to the judge. i,m assuming that is its a Burgalry charge? for some strange reason Breaking and Entering is not viewed as serious in the eyes of the law-- beats the hell out of me.;)
