It's miles away from the town - right out in the sticks. You even have to walk along a cinder track from the lane that leads up to it and that lane is off a road way out of town! :D

I think I'll ask if there are any grants going to get this'artist' into town, to try to tell us all where the divine inspiration came from to create 'this great work of art', just to waste a few more bob.:D

Well if you can fill in the appropriate application forms in a manor that will pass the deciding body then good on you. I am all for getting funding into this area no matter what it is for. Especially when the funding is spent on local artists/contractors/suppliers etc.

Who was the great man/woman? who designed this masterpiece, then I will apply for funds just for the crack, after all being half English half Jewish should give me an edge as I am an 'Ethnic Minority'.;)

Well it's just won another design award. Like it or hate it it's doing exactly what we said it would do for Burnley and getting national and international coverage and positive news stories.

But is it bringing any tangible benefits to Burnley in the form of increased prosperity via the tourist industry?

Also, just how extensive is this coverage? I live out of the area and if I hadn't heard about it on here, I wouldn't even be aware of it.

Is it just me being an old git, or does every structure that's got an award look at best mediocre, at worst hideous?

I quite like this award winner from London, which to my untutored eye appears to be a large shed.
