What happened up here when we had that last solar eclipse, back in the late nineties?

I was working in London then, and it was totally weird when it went very dark just before lunch on a sunny day. All the traffic stopped, and everyone came out of their offices to watch it.

I think the path took it over northern France, but what happened up here in Lancashire?

Yeh remember that happened end of August 1999 was in Blackburn, just got out of my appointment in time to see it - luckily a lovely day for viewing:D

the last solar eclipse i was stood in the middle of mercer park in clayton....that was nice :D
