What's your insult of choice?
Not rude ones or offensive ones, but the ones that we use almost as a term of endearment.
In our house, we're called muppets if we do daft things, or sometimes puddins. One I've not heard for a long time is numpty - there was an article in the Guardian about its use recently - apparently it's of Scottish origin and very popular up there! So what's everybody else's insult of endearment? |
Re: What's your insult of choice?
There is one insult I have ready to use (but never dared to, as yet)
When offended by a football hooligan (wearing shirt):- Is that number your shoe size, or, your age? |

Re: What's your insult of choice?
Okay, Annie just reminded me that Cindy calls her idgit (idiot), and she calls her chubs and loser. Oh, how the love is spread so kindly (actually, our house is most often full of laughter and english humor!), ya gits!

Re: What's your insult of choice?
Actually think numpty is back Gayle, heard it loads of times recently.
We used to say 'cuckoo' .. not sure how it relates though .:D I love it when my much younger colleagues at work call me a 'tart' (in the best possible taste of course) .. sorta' raises me status like.. Rather like 'Spazz' .. think some people may feel an an insult to certain disabled people, but never feel it is said in any cruel or detrimental way. |
Re: What's your insult of choice?

Re: What's your insult of choice?
Gobsh*te (the missing vowel is an "I") is a standard term of rebuke, as is donkey and dung-brain. But, for people who earn my special appreciation, the epithets can be a good deal more ascerbic, not to say, caustic. Acid Drops, Moi?

Re: What's your insult of choice?
we once had a YTS kid at one of the places I worked, We called him "Opium" for years, when he was leaving he asked why we called him that.
Cause your "a slow working dope" was the response :D |
Re: What's your insult of choice?
ponhead(panhead)...don't know where it derives from but it goes back donkeys years.....'spooner' is another one...it implies that you are not bright enough(or safe enough) to be allowed to use a dinner knife.
