generally speaking its organisations who are creating this separation. the asian polulation doesnt campaighn for separate laws. howeveer in private matters such as divorce though i dont hav problems with how people come to arrangements.this practise is encouraged within the system. that is a private matter and people can be guided by whatever religion they belive in- its nobody elses biusness. not yours or mine |

By the laws of this land divorce isn't a private matter, it's a legal matter. I can get married in my church but it must be done legally with a legal representative (registrar) present as that is the part that makes the marriage valid. To get divorced it is nothing to do with the church, I cannot get divorced in church - it's the courts which deal with divorces. I believe this applies to every other religion in this country apparently apart from Islam. |

you are right willow constant references to the community are creating division and sadly the bigots from the BNP and the so called leaders will be the only ones to benefit |

Absolutely and The BNP are lapping it up because they are using it to stir up ill feeling.
As far as I'm concerned the Central Ward representative should be my representative and I will be voting for the one who I believe hopefully will be representing everyone and not just the choice few. I don't think I need to tell you who I won't be voting for. His election leaflet didn't entice me anyway. |

Re: Sharia law anyone?
Do we think that any powers permitted to this self appointed committee will stop at divorce and child custody issues?
Once appointed these clerics will be the only route allowed for many Muslims, surely this cannot be right in this day and age. As discussed earlier we are the soft touch of Europe on everything from doling out benefits to turning a blind eye lest we offend minorities. For many Asian women this will be a retrograde step in their freedom from oppression of every kind. Time will tell. |
Re: Sharia law anyone?
Non-Muslims are excluded from the secretive court which is registered as a charity to receive British tax benefits.
Although the court has no official legal standing, scales of justice adorn a sign outside a former pub building which has been converted by the Islamic Institute of Great Britain. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/5795 So these 'courts' have charitable status, and therefore we are all paying for them? Outrageous. |
Re: Sharia law anyone?
Outside the mosque a bonfire of thousands of video and audio cassettes and CDs, which included "Home Alone 4" and "Free Willy," was set alight as onlookers chanted "our way is jihad, jihad".
"This is porno material and blue films. This is destroying our society," said Maulana Ghazi, Aziz's brother. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.../07/wpak07.xml Better get rid of your Macaulay Culkin films now...before it's too late.:D |

Re: Sharia law anyone?
Will it ever get to the stage that people will be burning down/blowing up these Sharia courts and/or other Muslim buildings?
If so how long off those terrifying events are we? |
