So they slagged off the moderators which we all know gets you a ban. But did it anyway. Then they get there mates and families and the rest to cry about it.

And now your both back under different names slagging them off again.

I think everyone should be unbanned..

Threads calling people ******* aint exactly productive but they can just be deleted. If you have a real point about a mod then make a thread in a productive manner without namecalling and he/she would have a hard time deleting it without getting a backlash!

Certaian people have been calling certain mods for deleting posts and certain people getting banned. If you ask me its all OTT.Someone that should have been banned wasn't and it all stems from there. If I go into to much detail I will probably get banned.Though the perpatrators know who they are and we will see at the next meet;) If they turn up:)

All I can say is the mods have a thankless job to do and have to monitor the site, without wanting to appear patronisiong as anyone who knows me will tell you I always speak my mind as I see fit, but within the rules. If the rules are not adhered to, and lets face it it is a child/family orientated site. No I am not taking sides when you join the rules are given to you, ok we all take a few liberties now and again but if bans have been given they must have been just cause, this is my last word on this subject save to say,"would you like to be a moderator, I certainly would not" they can't win whatever they do.

EXACTLY the rules was not adheared to,the real perpatrater was not dealt with.Wrong people got banned. The rules state you can not have more than one name on here but somebody has.One name banned but allowed to post rubbish under another name. And the certain Mod knows he is doing this.No names at all mentioned but how can they explain themselves? If they dont wanna do it here PM me.But they probably haven't the 'Bottle' to do it.;)

I know some users don't like what has happened recently but it is in the rules.

Look here for the rules.
Below are a few of them, I can't find the one that used to say banned users will be banned again if they return with a new user name so maybe that no longer applies. Maybe a mod could confirm this so we know, most of the falling out was to do with someone returning and it might now be allowed.

Re: why has my thread been closed

I hate that no edit after 10mins.

I also wanted to say that that threads like this about why a thread is closed are not really allowed because they question the mods decision in open forum. If you want to know why a thread is closed/deleted you should really ask the mods in a PM.
If we are not careful the site will start to fall to bits, the only threads we will have will either be closed or ones asking why one was closed.

We all know the mods on this site enjoy a good laugh with the rest of us and actually allow many posts that are a little too iffy, I have even been known to post the occasional iffy post myself ;). Even though they do allow a little rule bending we have to accept that rules are here for the good of the site.

I personally like all the members who have been banned and I am sure the decision to ban them can't have been and easy one.

Well, I have just read the five pages on this post, and I think it just a load of garbage. Somebody broke the rules. When you joined the site you agreed to abide by the rules. The moderators are in place to oversee the site, and if the rules are broken, the punishment for the misdemeanour is in place. So why not just accept the punishment, put the whole argument to bed and let us all get back to the harmonious gathering that we really are.

The rules also state one member one account and a certain perpetrator is still on.That the grievance one rule for one and another rule for another.

I'm afraid reading this thread as an individual thread leaves you in the dark as to what has really gone on. I agree with Neil earlier in that there are ways and means of complaining but the real issue for everyones annoyance is still there.

Not only is a person who has been banned several times already using another name but he has also hijacked a young girls account and is posting as her. If you feel comfortable with that then by all means stick to your guns but I think it leaves a bitter taste in peoples mouths and a great deal of mistrust.

T.C. 16-05-2007 09:50

Re: why has my thread been closed

I don't feel happy at all that rules have been broken, or that a banned member is impostering another member, but surely there are clauses in the rules that cover this, and it should be dealt with by the moderators?

SPUGGIE J 16-05-2007 09:59

Re: why has my thread been closed

It is reaching a point that dispite all the good people on here there are those who flout the rules so ften with multi logins and trying to do it just to wind people up. Those that try to show that person banned is back seems to end up frustrated and angry and therefore lashes out even when they dont mean to. Certain subjects are so tinder dry that it dosnt take much to inflame it. We need to take a step back from it and see if the rules can be tightened without the Mods copping a load of earache over it. Maybe there are not enough mods for certain areas and that mods from other sections could step in to lighten the load a bit.

Too much infighting spoils the sight and will encourage some shy members to abandon it and others not to join. Not looking for scape goats just an even playing fielsd so that we can all get back to the banter that we used to have. Without the banter and the characters that help make this site it will deteriate and become a shadow of its former self. I will admit that I gave serious consideration to pulling back for a while last night but decided that would defeat the purpose and would not help matters.

Lets just pick a day to start from scratch and try and get this all behind us. Chuck the badness retrieve the madness I say and lets rock.

WillowTheWhisp 16-05-2007 10:06

Re: why has my thread been closed

I've read all of this thread and have avoided posting up to now but finally feel like chucking in my two pennorth.

It ain't easy being a moderator and they have to make sure of what they are doing before they do it - which is why they ask that people do not question their actions.

When people do question their actions (which they know is against the board rules) they know they run the risk of being banned.

Now I know that there is an accusation that one of the members on here is not who they claim to be - but there is also the possibility that the person was misinformed and that they actually are who they claim to be and haven't the foggiest idea what this is all about.

It needs to be got to the bottom of and I believe that is what the moderators are doing, they are not just ignoring things and letting people get away with flouting the board rules.

Can't we just let them get on with it to the best of their ability and trust that they are acting in the best interests of AccyWeb as a whole?

accymel 16-05-2007 10:11

Re: why has my thread been closed

Fair point spugster, i've noticed accyweb has gone downhill a lot lately with a bad aurora about for some months & lost its fun madness [i remain to stay mental regardless hehehe] but as with owt in life a reinforcement of the forum rules & boundaries should be reset & stuck to. Im mearely confused by the whole situation especially yesterday which happened very fast. People are going to run amuck if they aren't told what they have done wrong & have that explained - maybe if a moderator could speak on behalf of the moderators to answer this issue so thus not keeping it going round in circles & update on whats happening with the banned people & as with Accrington Barbie as to whether the claims have been established etc, so that everyone is clear of the rules & blah blah.

Lack of communication will always be a breakdown of social/interactive/working & personal relationships - even forums.

But from what everyone is saying shouldn't this other member be banned aswell? I hope the mods have looked into this (as i'm sure they have) because this seems like a case of one rule for one.... ( but i really don't know what the original thread was about) I'll wait to ask someone at the meet what that was about, dont want to get anybody else in trouble.

In the end Spuggie is right we should just wait and see what the mods have to say when they have sorted all of this out.

My sentiments exactly Spug. The guys who police this site have a thankless task, one which I would not wish to burden myself with, so in this instant , let us get behind them, and hope they can solve the problems and stop all this bickering. Best of Luck.

:drunk: :drunk: As you can see by the number of posts in over the past two years, I'm not one for making comment on site. As a seventy five year old geriatric I derive most of my pleasure from reading your comments, debates and sometimes solutions, but occasionally can be drawn out of my hibernation, as on this one. I sincerely hope my enforced pennyworth has helped with a dignified ending.

I once asked 'in jest' what would happen if I stopped using Gayle (I got a bit fed up because I always have to be sensible because everyone knows who I am) as my user name and logged on with a new name - I was told that I would be found out immediately and both user names would be banned. So, I'm a bit puzzled if it isn't happening with other people - not that I'm going to test it.

So, what really gets me is why some people feel the need to test how far they can go before they get banned. It's almost like they wear it like a badge of honour, 'I pushed the boundary so far that I've been banned and bounced back'.

It's not a contest to see how many user names and bans you can rack up.

It looks like for some people it is.

On here its like a big extened family and like all families there will be a falling out once in a while but everything gets forgiven and its back to normal. Compared to some extended families I think we are quite a balanced lot really.

Insulting & Nasty Posts
Posts that are just insulting or nasty are not allowed on this website.

hmmm isn't this where this all began?

and if so why hasn't this person been banned for this floutation of the rules coupled with the whole double login thing it seems a sure-fire case for dismissal to me

as far as i'm concerned this is an open forum and as such people have the right to the freedom of speech and unfortunately some people have chosen to take this away from other people in this instance

by posting on this site we all leave ourselves open to criticism (believe me i've had my share)
so why should the mods be any different? if you do or say something on here that you know others won't like, be prepared to take the hits like the rest of us

the only reason the mods don't is because they have the power not to, if we all had the power to delete posts and ban people who say something we don't like there wouldn't be an accyweb!
most of us are grown adults and can look after ourselves in an argument or discussion and that is what accyweb is here for and it's about time the site stopped being so political about things and get itself back to where it was as somwhere it seems to have lost it's way

well i've had my say and judging by recent events it could be my last for a while we'll just have to wait and see :D

A moderator decision shouldn't be open to debate. They have a difficult enough job as it is.

I agree Willow, if people don't like that then they should leave. It is one of the rules you agree to when joining.

The moderators are here to do a job. I've had posts deleted in the past & I've sent an email / pm to a moderator to find out why. They have explained their decision & that was the end of the subject.

:)

jedimaster 16-05-2007 14:23

Re: why has my thread been closed

so are a lot of things which are flouted on here and more to the point are allowed to go un-moderated this is exactly the point that has been made one rule for one and another for everyone else

let's put it another way:
who polices the police?
are the police above the law?
are the government immune from criticism?
i think not just because you are in a position of power (no matter how small)
it does not give you the right to abuse that priveledge nor does it make you immune from criticism that is what happens in a dictatorship and not a democracy
this is a public open forum and as such it's members should be more than welcome to express their views publicly

Re: why has my thread been closed

You are assuming that someone has been allowed to get away with something. You are not allowing for the possibility of 'innocent until proven guilty' - heresay does not constitute proof.

If you see a post which you believe flouts the rules there's always the report button. On a busy site like this the mods can't possibly read every post and equally they can't take sides in personal disputes.

jedimaster 16-05-2007 14:29

Re: why has my thread been closed

ahh but yes they can if a thread is abusive, nasty etc etc

WillowTheWhisp 16-05-2007 14:31

Re: why has my thread been closed

Which is, I think, what they actually do. ;)

jedimaster 16-05-2007 14:42

Re: why has my thread been closed

obviously not on this occasion

the fact remains that regular contributers to the site have been banned for voicing their opinion that the moderators failed to uphold these rules

this may or may not be the case but rather than banning people maybe they should have explained either publicly or via pm to the offended parties as to what they were actually doing about the situation then a lot of this could have been avoided instead they have chosen to shoot first and ask questions later.

WillowTheWhisp 16-05-2007 14:45

Re: why has my thread been closed

How do you know it wasn't explained via PM? I don't know what the moderators have said to anybody by PM.
