Re: Woof
I am absolutely disgusted with people who will train dogs to fight. It's a pity the owners can't be put down.
I had wondered what was going on round here. |
Re: Woof
OOOOO Eric what a funny story .... rofl!!!! bet he,ll think twice before ignoring signs again hehe ..or maybe even breaking in to someones house ..

Re: Woof
I hate to say this but I don't agree a dog that is forced to fight should necessarily be put down.
A dog doesn't need to be TRAINED to fight to feel the need to defend itself when put in such a situation. Any dog will try to fight its own corner and keep alive. Just as if you were being attacked and you had a weapon you would strike with it. It doesn't mean you violent, it means you have natural instincts to protect yourself. Just a thought anyway. I haven't read the article, only the comments already stated. |
Re: Woof
The problem is that once a dog has been taught to be aggressive and especially one that has killed or even tasted blood that dog is never going to be a docile family pet.

Re: Woof
I think the dogs should be put down. Once a dog has been trained you will never untrain it. It will always be in the back of its mind and then something maybe the wrong word will set it off and if its a child that says it - dont bear thinking about.

Re: Woof
I believe a dog could be re homed. Just to a responsable owner, I hate the though of any dog being destroyed for something it hasnt done.
Two thing that are different. A dog thats been trained to fight other dogs. A dog that is trained to be aggressive. The second being the most dangeress. A dog tastes blood regular, dogs mouths bleed, if they get treated to a bloody steak, I dont believe once a dog has tasted blood it becomes a killing machine, or hunting dogs, lurchers would be savaging everyone. It boils down to the dog being such a loyal animal it will do as its owners command, or as stated earlier defend its self if felt threatened. So is it the dogs fault or the human behind the animal. |

That goes to the other person who said the same type of thing aswell, not just you willow. |
Re: Woof
'tasting blood' was the terminology my Dad used to use for a dog having bitten or killed a living creature.
I wouldn't like to take chances with a dog which has been trained to fight. I would never forgive myself if I'd tried to retrain such a dog and it ever attacked anyone. Supposing a child walked by with another dog which barked and my ex-fighter dog turned on the other dog and the child? I do feel sorry for the dogs but I don't think it's worth the risk. |

Re: Woof
Hunting dogs, kill live animals, yet they dont attack there owners.
It down to training and how responsable you are with your dog. Main things for any aggressive dog. Muzzel in public Neuter ID Chip Third Party Insurance And most of all Commen Sence. Some dogs I agree will be past re-homing but most of the inoccent bull terriers they are taking away as you see on the news are probably not aggressive if trained properly. |
Re: Woof
In the past a lot of dogs have been put down simply because they were 'the wrong breed' and had never done an aggressive thing in their lives, never been trained to fight or anything. That is so unfair and I feel very sorry for those owners.
