Secondly, I was in the position of her little boy once, though a bit older, and my mum was able to deal with the problem really well and we got housed really fast, and so I feel that if she can do it after really being kicked out into the cold night, then its possible, and I know there is no way in hell that she'd have left me at my grandparents, gone out, and then sat on the internet at her friends house the next day whilst I was worried and confused. The only difference is that it wasn't new years day. |
Re: bye all
my son is here with me..... we had already arranged for him to stay last night so picking him up would have confused him...
|
Re: bye all
So what difference does it make that she's on the internet? Presumably her little boy is asleep so it won't be affecting him at all. You got housed 'really fast' and it wasn't New Year's Day. She's not even been homeless 24 hours yet and it IS New Year's Day.

Re: bye all
I'm not surprised he's a bit confused. Will he be able to go back to school as normal on Monday? That should help him settle a bit if some of his routine is restored.

Re: bye all
Emma has asked me to let everyone know that she now has her own house. She picks up the keys today. The next step is to furnish the place. :)
|
Re: bye all

Re: bye all
was just thinking (as you do) if Em gets in touch with bonnyboy and tells him what she needs furniture wise maybe we could all look on freecycle for her, i'm sure we could get her sorted out with every item of furniture she needs between us
just a thought Ste would you please text her and ask her what she needs? |
Re: bye all
Or maybe some of us accywebbers have stuff she could have......
|
Re: bye all
She needs basically just about everything so anything anyone knows of will probably be some use to her - unless we all get her a table and she ends up with a couple of dozen tables and no chairs!! :D
|
Re: bye all
well i have a dinning table and 4 chairs for her if she wants it, if she has a dinning room that is, and if someone can pick it up for her
|
Re: bye all
I have some spare pans and bedding for a double bed, probably got more bits and pieces too.
|
Re: bye all
just text em and she needs a double mattress if anyone has one, she has the base but just no mattress, grego i think the bedding will come in handy for when she gets a bed
|
Re: bye all
grego, em said YES PLEASE!!! to the bedding and pans :D
|
Re: bye all
I dont know Em and haven't got her number but if she's only 10 mins from Sandy Lane I'm quite close and may be able to drop off over the weekend.

|
Re: bye all
I have a Tefal electic kettle in full working order - replaced it only because it is lime green! -will someone who has her contact details please ask her if she wants it, and where to take it.
|
Re: bye all
Margaret yes she does need a kettle, if you pm Derekgas he is going to pick all items up and take them all to Emma's sometime on Monday i think
|
Re: bye all
Unfortunately, just recently thrown loads of stuff out which may have been useful, just bibs and bobs, like pictures, ginger jars, etc., somewhere in the loft .. these can be personal taste and she may not want.
Will take a look over the weekend anyway. Hyndburn Used Furniture Store took my old suite away. Seems to be a charitable organisation for people like Emma who have found themselves in this type of situation, but really don't know how they operate. Is on Fairfield Street and possibly linked to the Council ? 01254 393784. |
Re: bye all
Just had a look at the website and it looks like they work along the lines of a charity shop, accepting donations and selling the items, but very very cheaply.
|
Re: bye all
Em said she's been to one charity (ish) shop already, i dont know if it was the one mentioned above or not
|
Re: bye all
HUFS is brill if ya really in need....they deliver for nothing and theres a massive list with whats for sale (at a VERY CHEAP) price and you just tick a box and the items are yours, they do everything from kettles, cots and cookers......i send my things to them if i get new stuff.I have sent Jacks old (but not crap) buggies, hoovers, tables, umbrellas and allsorts and i hate it when i see people throw out good condition stuff when they upgrade because with just one phone call they could give it to this charity AND get it taken away for nothing.
|
Re: bye all
Anybody else need anything picking up for emma, I will be leaving about lunch, pm me please if you have anything she may find useful!
|
Re: bye all
Emma has now taken delivery of 2 portable tv's, a 2 seater leather settee, a vaccuum, a kettle (though not bought tea bags yet, lol), a child's desk and some kitchen item's (think bits of crockery), the house has carpets, and she has some decorating to do, the housing people donated a bit towards decor. Anyhow, if anybody else has anything to offer, feel free to pm me and I will endeavour to collect and deliver. Emma ask me to give thanks to the people who have helped so far.
|
Re: bye all
oops...double post
|
Re: bye all
It's great that you are helping her so much Derek, I keep finding myself looking round the house to see if I've got anything, alas nothing popped up yet!!
Maybe if we had an idea from Em of anything else she really needs |
Re: bye all
Same here, but if there is anything or if I hear of anyone else with anything I'll let her know.
Hope she can manage to get back online eventually too. |
Re: bye all
I have another collection to do on wednesday, emma says kitchen things are shortfalls, I have some pans to collect for her, I also had a conversation with somebody on here who had the nice idea of a collection to aid emma with broadband payments for a set period, alas she has no computer, so she will be a while off air I suspect. Thanks go to you all from emma.
|
Re: bye all
Derek could you pick a double mattress up for her from marlborough road? wednesday would be fine, let me know, cheers cocker :D
|
Re: bye all
Great to see the support being lent to Emma...Stars each and everyone of you :)
|
Re: bye all
derek I am unsure of Em's benefit status, but if she is on income support I am happy to go round to hers and complete a community care grant application which may help her buy more things for the home, especially the essential larger items. There is no guarantee of it being successful, but its def worth a try..if she says yes, pm me her no and I will contact here to arrange it this week
|
Re: bye all
Lesley, they havent sorted her benefits out yet, she told me yesterday that she is waiting for tax credits and income support to be sorted

Been offered a microwave today, does she have one???
|
Re: bye all
Been round to Em's earlier this evening and must say she's done a good job of turning a house into a home...looking cosy.
She wants everyone to know once again how greatful she is for everyone who has helped her on here...in fact she has that many mugs now it was suggested that everyone on here could turn up and she would have enough to make brews for all :D She has even named it her accyweb house :) The only things she is short of now is a fridge & freezer as flashy has mentioned and a washer & dryer...now she isn't expecting anyone to just turn up with them, but if you are in the process of buying any of the above new and want rid of the old ones, she would be only to happy to take them off your hands. And of course fog horn mouth here managed to wake her little lad up :o but all was forgiven when he saw his new flinstone egg cup and scooby doo glasses :D what a cutey he is Hope she managed to get him back to sleep though :o |
Re: bye all
If i still worked for the council id be able to get loads of things. They collect hundreds of old fridges and freezers, but doubt they would be willing to give one away as they make money out me selling them for scrap metal. Hope everything works out for em as she is soooo sweet, and her lads well cool. Dont think i have anything of use (nothing of mine gets replaced until its well and truly dead lol). Really is nice though to see everyone jumping in to help someone in need.
